The Long siblings sat out the second test, they were not sure what was going on inside the second realm and Long Zhou sat in silence. Long Gaoya had already made a couple of friends namely Chi Fei and two other girls that Long Zhou could not be bothered to ask for their names. ‘The talent I showed int the test should be enough to get me a pretty influential master. The real problem is how Long Gaoya is going to fair in the next test and if she isn’t called up, will they leave her as an outer disciple?’ Long Zhou wondered as he stared off into the distance mysteriously.
The second test came and left, and nobody peaked Long Zhou interest, ‘it is better to start looking for people to turn into my subordinates. No matter how strong I become everything will become easier if I have a few people under me. It’s a shame all these humans have so little potential and such short lives else I would turn the entire Scarlet Dragon Sect into my servants.’
Then the numbers for the third test started to be called and Long Gaoya was lucky enough not to be called at all. She looked at Long Zhou with the smuggest smile he had ever seen since Nif had tricked him. Compared to that time when he was scammed out of a core stone, this was nothing but that smile reminded him of one of his most embarrassing moment. To everyone else it looked like he was angry that she was lucky enough that she was not called up.
They then sat around with envious stares waiting for the test to be over, after an hour they finally came out and the men standing at the stage finally released sighs of relief, there were 150 people who had passed the tests and 3 people lucky enough not to be called up at all and they were Long Gaoya Chi Fei and Han Bei. Out of the 150 that had passed 3 people had been called up for all 3 tests one of them was Wei Li the boy who would have won the first test if it were not for Long Zhou, Feng Long the boy who attacked Long Zhou in the first test and a girl by the name of Yan Xuanxuan.
The elders looked satisfied with what they had saw in the testing centre “congratulations on making it into our Scarlet Dragon Sect, we will now send you to the outer sect hall, this is where you will be placed, and if you are lucky enough an elder will take you in as their disciple.” The old man said as he stroked his beard. The test centre started to hum with power as they saw the roof opened. The tower seemed to grow and where the roof was there floor of another building was there. Their bodies felt like they were stretching and with a flash of light they appeared in a new room, the roof of the hall was instead the ground of the test centre.
‘The centre was one huge transportation array, these sects are much more powerful than I originally thought, it seems that I had underestimated them. If they have the strength to make a transportation array getting into the Lord realm should not be that hard, so why does it feel like all the powerful people are stuck at the peak of Rinzana realm? Even getting to the Rinzana realm does not seem hard for them as there are many of them in this hall. Peculiar.’ Long Zhou thought to himself as he looked around, the hall had an upper seating section with 5 people of the Rinzana seated and behind them there were another 5 people at the peak of the sky realm.
The old man that tested walked up to the five and took a seat behind all the others on a higher seat that resembled a throne. “You all watched their performance, who do you want to take into your department. Let us start with you Qi Lin.” He said while looking at a rough red headed woman. She uncrossed her legs while looking over at the crowd. She looked at Wei Li, Feng Long and Long Zhou only to revile a faint smile. “How many do I get to pick first Yi Yong?” she said looking back at the old, bearded man, her voice and expression gave away the amount of respect and admiration she had for him. “The normal amount of course. This year is much more promising than the last 2. There will be quite the discussion on certain people.” He said while looking uninterested, he clearly wanted to get this over with.
“Fine, then I will take these 4 first. Wei Li, Feng Long, Yan Xuanxuan and Long Zhou. Let me take these four and I will not take anymore.” Qi Lin said while looking at the other Rinzana realm masters. They all exchanged looks, the 4 she called out had immense talent surviving all 3 tests and Long Zhou was the most outstanding of them all as he used the black flames to cultivate. However, to the old man and women they were of no use, they clearly lied on the path of fighting and not arrays and alchemy. The other two big men looked over at the crowed and gritted their teeth, if they fought over these four, she would undoubtedly take all the other ones with high potential in the crowed. If there was a stalemate between two different departments the disciples will be able to pick between them. Qi Lin was the deputy head of the most prestigious department of the Scarlett Dragon Sect, the defence department. They only let in a few people that were the top of their year and kicked them out if they were not up to the standard. The new disciples of course would choose the defence department and they would lose a lot of face. Qi Lin also would not make their lives easy, she was one of the strongest people in the Sect and was on par with the Great Elders, and had a lot of influence even if she did not use it.
“I will take you silence as a yes then Mu Tou and Mu Ten.” She said as she stood up and walked out “Follow me, we will have to get you situated so I can go back to sleeping.” They walked out of the hall. The moment they walked out of the building the air changed, the qi became thicker and they all saw that they were now in a mountain range. There was a city in the far, far distance. “That is Red Star City. This is called Red Dragon mountain.” She pointed at a massive wall behind her. “That is the wall that divides the inner and outer sects. Only when you reach the manifestation realm before the age of 20 are you allowed to enter.” She then walked off to the right.
The four started to talk amongst each other with Feng Long staying quiet. After all they were all kids at age of 10, “Yan Xuanxuan if you need anything just ask me. I will take care of it no problem.” Wei Li said. They clearly had helped each other a lot in the tests and grew familiar with each other. He then looked at Long Zhou, he was a bit scared of him after what happened in the first test. “Brother Long, Brother Zhou do you know of the defence department? Since you seem new to Red Star City I will tell you. They are the highest honour that any of the disciples can achieve. The Defence department run the defence of the Sect and have an even higher authority then the city guards of Red Star City. They are the best of the best, and Deputy Head Qi Lin and Head Qi Li are legends. Did you know they both saved the city from a beast hoard single handily by taking out profound beasts that even 10 sky realm warriors could not defeat while they were in the sky realm.”
Long Zhou nodded along while not paying attention to what he was saying. He did not care about the defence department he only cared about was getting himself cultivation resources that will help him get to the soul realm the fastest. He needed to get a soul beast as soon as possible. ‘In five years, I should be at the peak of manifestation realm if everything goes to plan, and then I will go to the capital. After that I should focus on cultivating to the Rinzana realm before I try to leave this realm for a stronger one.’
They arrived at a red building, and Qi Lin looked at them, “Here are the keys. You will enter this building and cultivate in it for a month. You are all at the peak of the body refinement realm now and if at the end of the month you are not in the spirit realm you will not just be kicked out of the defence department; you will not be allowed to join any other ones.” And with that she vanished after throwing a key at each of them. They group looked at each other puzzled, getting from the peak of the body refinement realm to the spirit realm was not hard for talented people such as them. “What could she mean? We need at least a week to do it, a month is too long. Is that it to stay in the defence department? I thought it was hard.” Wei Li said. As he walked over with, he keys to unlock the door. However, he could not turn the key. He started to use both hands but it still would not budge. “I think there is a problem here. The key will not budge.” He said scratching his head. Long Zhou smiled he understood what Qi Lin wanted. ‘the entire building is set so it will constantly test you at your max, even being in it will increase the weight on your body to the point where you will not be able to focus on cultivating.’
“This must be part of the test that Deputy Head Qi Lin left us with. If we can not enter we will not be able to start the test, and thus fail.” Yan Xuanxuan said as she walked up to the door, “What if you three all try it at the same time? We should be able to open it up if we all try.”
“This Feng does not need any help. I am not weak like Wei Li.” Feng Long said as he walked up to the door and put his key in. He tried to open it but like Wei Li’s attempt it did not budge, he tried and tried with both hands until they heard a groan. The key moved a tiny bit. It quickly overwhelmed Feng Long’s strength and snapped back to its original position. ‘Feng Long is pretty strong to think he would be able to do it with his physical strength alone. Impressive.’ Long Zhou thought as he walked up to the door and plugged in his key and closed his eyes. He focused his internal qi into his right arm and used it to strengthen his arm. He then turned it casually and opened the door, he looked back at the 3 stunned faces “Next time use your internal qi and not brute force.” He said as the door closed shut behind him. Click. It locked itself as Wei Li walked up and tried his luck again. This time he followed Long Zhou’s advice and used his internal qi in his right arm and slowly unlocked the door, he opened it and walked right in giving Feng Long a stair “No, you are weaker than me.”
Feng Long shouted in rage and the opened the door this time with his rage alone. Lastly the door was opened one last time by Yan Xuanxuan after a couple of tries. The moment she stepped foot into the building she dropped to her knees. Opening the door took a lot out of her and now the gravity of the hallway was too much for her to handle. She managed to look up and saw the other three on a knee as all stared at each other. Feng Long roared as he used all his might to stand up but the moment his knee left the floor it was smashed back down into it. ‘If Feng Long can not stand up even with him using his strength and inner qi we all have no hope of standing up, until we can make our muscles absorb more internal qi.’ Long Zhou thought as he closed his eyes. ‘How can I increase my maximum internal qi absorption? I have done it on instinct before but now I have no idea.’
A day later Long Zhou had finally remembered how he had done it and increased the internal qi absorption and stood up before the other two and gave them bot smug looks as he could now walk around freely. “All you need to do is make your muscles absorb more internal qi. Good luck figuring that out, it troubled me for a while.” Long Zhou said. As he walked off into a room and sat down to cultivate.
