Chapter 1 - Prologue

It was dark, darker than I had ever experienced before. Under normal circumstances, darkness was my ally; no matter how dark it was, I was able to see everything due to my skills; however, this darkness was different.

It was almost as if it was not dark, rather there was absolutely nothing around me. It felt as if I was floating in the void. However, it still felt incorrect, as I was completely unable to move; I couldn't even move my fingers, so it had to be something else.

I remember just barely beating the final boss of that death game; I even received my rewards, and then darkness. The only thing I could think of was that the boss might have had some sort of second phase which killed me even before I could react. Being trapped in that game for many long years, just to die like that.

Suddenly, as if the world felt my frustration, one of my senses returned; my hearing. Although it was not yet as sharp as it was previously, I was still able to hear quite well.

From the breathing and movements of my surroundings, I counted that at least seven people were standing around me, and three others stood somewhere in front of me a few meters away.

It seemed that I was not dead after all, maybe this is how resurrection or respawning could work; though I was merely speculating.

"My Lord! It seems the summoning was successful!"

A slightly shaking yet firm, deep voice came from one of the people standing around me, and I could hear him sigh at the end.

"Great! Now tell me, what is his level?"

Hearing the second man's voice, a strange uncomfortable feeling washed over me. This felt way too strange; even if someone was just trying to put up an act, it was too much.

"Sir... I-It seems, that we might have summoned a dud... This one is only level 1..."

As the man replied, my previous discomfort vanished completely, and instead was replaced by anger, simultaneously my senses started coming back.

Although I was still unable to move or feel anything, I now know that I was in some sort of building, lying on a stone floor. Three of the surrounding men wore armour, the rest were some lighter clothes; my senses were not sharp enough to identify them at all.

The fact that I was able to visualise my surroundings so well, meant that whatever level they were talking about was most likely fake, as even the lowest level of Sixth Sense required the players to be at least level 10.

"Why? Why is this happening?! I already have to deal with the other side, they need a tremendous amount of resources already... I can't just waste resources on this dud."

"But father! Don't you think it is harsh and unfair? You just summoned him! The least you could do is... "

A girly voice came, though, I was not one bit interested any more. I couldn't wait to recover my senses and my ability to move already.

"FINE! Let's follow the septs set forth by the ancestors! Hereby I grant him the town of Isliim and the title of Baron! Now, whether he dies or survives is up to his skills! Teleport him and do the necessary procedures, also, prepare another summoning, and do it properly this time! "

The man declared with a stern and cold tone. His annoyance and anger were palpable; then, he immodestly stormed off. I could hear just how deep of a sigh the men standing around me let out.

After a few short minutes, I noticed that abruptly my location had moved, and with that, my sense of touch had partially returned. I felt that I was faced down on a dusty road.

It seemed that one man was teleported alongside me. As minutes went by, he stayed still; in the meantime my senses kept returning. By the time three other people came over, My sight and even my ability to move was partially returned.

"By order of His Majesty, the city of Isliim, is now under the rule of this young Baron! Do take care of him; it is expected that he will be out for another..."

The man suddenly spoke up, however his tone was not at all professional. It felt as if he was looking down at the three newcomers as well as me.

Fortunately, by that time, I had regained most of my senses and stood up. The man's eyes instantly widened as soon as he saw my sudden movement.

Based on his attire, the man was most likely some sort of errand boy. He seemed just an ordinary weak man with no special characteristics.

The other three were slightly different. In front of me stood a knight, in a full plated armour, although the armour was quite battered, it was still well-maintained.

Beside the knight stood a maid and a butler. Neither of the two were humans. The butler was much to my surprise an elf, with very short blond hair, and a small moustache just under his nose.

The maid looked human, thanks to my senses, I knew she was partially either a wolf or a dog. She hid her non-human characteristics well.

"If what you said is correct, the least you could do is speak respectfully."

I added as I glared into the eye of the errand boy. He was still surprised and even stepped back, but managed to regain his composure and cleared his throat.

"Since you are awake, I will be taking my leave. The official documents will arrive shortly."

As he was leaving, we kept glaring at one another until he was already quite a distance away; then I looked back at the other three. The moment I looked at them, they performed a slight bow, and then the knight stepped closer.

"My name is Frenik, sir... And these are your personal butler, Golnir, and maid, Lithy "

He added, and as both the butler and the maid performed another slight bow. Seeing their reaction filled me with a strange feeling. This felt truly real, unlike the game before.

The possibility that I had truly been summoned to this new world as my character rushed through my mind. After a long and tiring process of beating the game, I was just straight away dropped into another world.

At that point I wasn't even surprised or shocked, I was merely annoyed. Based on the reactions they gave previously, they think I am truly weak, at least I can keep pretending to be weak, and just live however the hell I want.

Though I have yet to confirm whether my skills were working, it seemed that most of my passive abilities worked. Though even without my skills, I was most likely still quite strong

"Sir... May I ask your name?"

The knight spoke up once again, dragging me back from my thoughts.

"Just call me... Sol"
