Chapter 1 - Reincarnation!

A 2022 Audi A6 flew down the road, going more than 100 km/h.

Inside the car, by the wheel, sat a middle-aged man with a handsome face which had a few wrinkles here and there, and a well fit body. His hair was short and black. His beard and moustache were shaved. His eyes were emerald green. He wore a black business suit with a white shirt underneath it. His name was Richard Vice.

The OLED screen which was to the right of the wheel suddenly lit up and started flashing every half of a second while ringing sounds started to sound from the car's speakers.

Glancing at this screen with his right eye, Richard saw that his wife was calling him.

"Answer," he said out loud.

"Where are you right now?" a beautiful, pleasing to the ear voice sounded from the car's speakers.

"I am driving home."

"So you already bought Tommie's birthday present?"

"I did. I bought a virtual reality headset with that game."

"Zai'er got an F."

Richard's eyes widened and mouth slightly opened from shock, and he spaced out as he never expected that his and his wife's son would fail at anything. He expected that their son would be all that they were and more. And they both were very exceptional people. He was the CEO of the multi-billion-euro company while she was the most popular actress.

He recovered from his shock a few moments later, but a truck came in rushing from the opposite side of the road and slammed into his car. Everything went dark.

Richard's eyelids quivered.

"What happened?" he mumbled as he opened his eyes. But when he opened them, they widened and his mouth opened from shock as he saw something that was taken out of a video game or a movie or a book.

In front of him stood a desk that was ten meters tall. On the desk laid a book. And behind the desk, sat a giant with grey skin, wrinkled old face, two black horns, black long hair and a black beard.

But those were not the only things that he saw. At the top-right corner of his view, he saw a small icon and at the top-left corner of his view, he saw a health bar.

<Health: 0/100>

Above the giant’s head, he saw a name, a level and a health bar.

<King Yama, Level ?>

<Health: ?/?>

King Yama looked down at Richard, then at his book and back at Richard again.

As King Yama did this, Richard recalled that a truck rammed into his car and he closed his eyes.

"I died and now I am face to face with King Yama. I will now get reincarnated," he opened his eyes and his thoughts continued, "But why the hell I am seeing HUD elements from that VR game that I bought?!"

A broad smile appeared on King Yama's face.

"You are an individual that I was waiting for, Richard. An individual that always exceeds expectations, no matter what they are.”

Richard nodded his head.

“I will not reincarnate you, Richard."

Richard’s eyes widened from shock.

"What?!" he couldn't help but shout out as he always believed that after death he would get reincarnated and his life would continue, even if he didn't have any memories of his current life.

"Let me finish, Richard. I will send you over into another world. My expectation of you is only one, kill Cain before he destroys the world. And don't even ask me to reincarnate you. Because the truth is, I can't as you are on your last life's cycle."

Sighing out a sigh of relief, Richard nodded his head.

"Alright," he said and thought, "I will do anything if it means that my life won't just end."

King Yama raised his hand and a pen formed in his hand. He lowered his pen and wrote something in the book and Richard was engulfed in a ball of darkness; his consciousness slipped away from him.

Richard's eyelids quivered and he slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was a full scarlet moon hanging up in the sky, surrounded by the pitch-black darkness.

"It's night?" he mumbled. Then he saw the HUD elements that he saw before.

"I am still seeing HUD elements from that VR game that I bought, why?" he thought, then shook his head and thought again, "Doesn't really matter. But since its there, I should explore it."

Moving his eyes to the top-right corner of his view where the small icon was, he focused on it. A window opened, taking up his entire view. In this window, there were seven buttons, out of which <Followers> <Talents> and <Professions> were greyed out.

<Character>

<Inventory>

<Quests>

<Talents>

<Professions>

<Map>

<Followers>

Focusing on the button – <Character> another window opened. In the centre of the window, there was a model of the man that looked exactly like Richard himself, but with two differences. The model’s skin was paler than his. Its eyes were crimson red while his were emerald green.

He furrowed his eyebrows.

“Didn’t King Yama send me over to another world and not reincarnated or transmigrated me, why did my eye colour change? And why is my skin paler?” he thought.

To the right and the left of the model, there were item slots, out which three were occupied.

<Linen Shirt, Item Grade: Common, Armour Type: Chest, Required Level: 0 Armour: 1>

<Linen Pants, Item Grade: Common, Armour Type: Pants, Required Level: 0 Armour: 1>

<Vampire's Sword, Item Grade: Common, Weapon Type: One-handed sword, Required Level: 0, Damage 2-4>

Below the model, there was his name, race, class, level and title.

<Name: Richard Vice, Race: Vampire, Class: Vampire, Level: 0, Title: Fledgeling>

His eyes widened from surprise.

"Vampire? I am a Vampire? I guess that's the way King Yama is giving me time to kill Cain and that’s why my eye colour changed," he thought.

Below the name, race, class, level and title, there were his health, resource, attributes, affinities and skills.

<Health: 360/360, Blood: 100/100>

<Attributes>

<Strength: 5, Dexterity: 5, Intellect: 1, Knowledge: 1, Vitality: 7, Endurance: 2, Charisma: 10, Spirit: 1, Armour: 2>

Below the skills, there was a question mark.

“What’s this?” he thought as he focused on it, and a window opened. Looking into the contents of the window, it was clear that this was an explanation window.

The first explanation was the attribute explanation.

Strength increased physical skill damage, physical auto attack damage and physical critical strike damage. Dexterity increased physical skill damage, attack speed of auto attacks and physical critical strike chance. Intellect increased magical skill damage, magical skill critical strike damage. Knowledge increased magical skill critical strike chance and maximum mana. Vitality increased maximum health and reduced the duration and effectiveness of curses and poisons. Endurance reduced critical damage taken. Charisma increased follower damage. Spirit increased health and mana regeneration.

The second explanation was the affinities explanation.

Each affinity increased resistance to the attacks of that affinity or increased his damage using attacks of that affinity.

The third explanation was the item explanation.

All items had one of the seven grades, they were either: common, uncommon, rare, epic, artefact, legendary or ancient. All items of all grades gave armour if it was an armour and had damage if it was a weapon. With each item grade, the given armour or had damage, increased. Additionally, items with grade: uncommon and higher, would increase attributes. Uncommon grade items increased one attribute. Rare grade items increased one attribute as well, but by a higher amount than uncommon grade items. Epic grade items increased two attributes, but by the same amount as rare grade items. Artefact grade items increased two attributes as well, but by a higher amount than epic grade items and also grew together with the wielder. Legendary grade items increased two attributes as well, but by a higher amount than artefact grade items and also had a special ability. Ancient grade items increased three attributes and by a higher amount than legendary grade items and grew together with the wilder and some even had special abilities. Items also could be enchanted from +1 all the way to +10.

The fourth explanation was the skill explanation.

To use one skill or the other, one simply had to focus on that skill.

Closing the explanation window and characters window, he opened the inventory. But in it, there was not a single item. He closed the inventory window and opened the quests. In it was one quest.

<Kill Cain before he destroys the world>

<Rewards: ???>

“I gave you my word, King Yama,” he thought.

Closing the quests window, he opened the map. He saw that he was located on the small island named Rilo on the bottom left corner of the map which was named – Valiria Realm Of The Eternal Night.

Closing the map window and the menu, he moved his eyes to the top-left corner of his view, and he saw two bars instead of one.

<Health: 360/360>

<Blood: 100/100>

Rising up from the ground, he turned his head, looking around his surroundings, and he could see everything clearly even if it was the middle of the night. But he wasn't surprised by it as he was aware that he was a vampire.

His eyes landed on the gothic city far into the distance.

"That's my first destination," he thought and lowering his eyes from the city, he saw a man standing between him and the town, looking at the town.

The man was handsome with pale skin and slicked back hair, he wore a velvet cavalier vest, black pants, a black cloak and had a sword to his right side. Above the man's head, a yellow exclamation marker could be seen.

<Count Zhastar, Level ?>

"A yellow exclamation marker? A quest? One of the HUD's perks I reckon. But how do I talk to him, since he is a count and all," he thought. But then, things that he didn't know and things that he already knew, started appearing in his head one after another.

The first thing that appeared in his head was that he was a vampire and because of that, he didn't need to sleep as vampires never felt exhaustion and he didn't need to eat as vampires never felt hunger. That he could see in the dark just as well as he could see in the light. That he could drink blood to rejuvenate himself. That his lifespan was eternal.

The second thing that appeared in his head was that he was on an island named Rilo. Which was located in the unique realm of Valiria Realm Of The Eternal Night. Unique, because it was the only realm where the day never came and the night was eternal.

The third thing that appeared in his head was the entire history of Valiria Realm Of The Eternal Night. The history that began over 100,000,000,000 years ago when a shinso created Valiria Realm Of The Eternal Night for its people, the true vampires to call – home and live in peace.

But their peace only lasted for so long, only a short thousand years as true werebeasts found their way into Valiria Realm Of The Eternal Night, and the wars between the true vampires and true werebeasts in the Valiria Realm Of The Eternal Night began, continuing up to this day.

The fourth thing that appeared in his head was the vampire hierarchy and the societal rules surrounding it.

The vampire hierarchy was split into seven layers. In the first and the highest layer was the true progenitor, the one who ruled over all the vampires and whose word was law. In the second layer were the progenitors who remained by the true progenitor's side at all times and only left his side when they were ordered to do so. In the third layer were the counts that ruled over the cities. In the fourth layer were the soldiers that protected the cities and fought against the werewolves. In the fifth layer were the people of the land who produced various goods. In the sixth layer were the adventurers who had to help anybody that asked for their help. In the lowest seventh layer were the fledgelings who were yet to be assigned a role in the vampire society by the count.

As for the societal rules, he had to bow his head and politely greet counts and those that were above the counts.

And the last, the fifth thing that appeared in his head was the identity of the true progenitor. She was a woman with a name Lilith.

"Thank you, King Yama," Richard thought and walked over to Zhastar.

King Yama leaned back into his chair and closed his eyes.

"I just hope that before I return to being Cain, you are strong enough to kill me, Richard."
