Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Lu Weiwei carefully knitted a scarf as she hummed along to her favorite ballads. When she was having a good day, like today, she would knit or bake and happily listen to the music she normally didn’t get to enjoy.

The housekeepers on standby were used to Miss Lu's mood swings. On bad days, she would lock herself in her room and work without rest until the next morning. Today, they noticed she was about to finish the scarf she had been knitting for the past few weeks.

A housekeeper placed a cup of tea on the coffee table and smiled at her.

"Miss Lu, have some tea before you finish."

Weiwei cheerfully looked up at her, "No, I must finish before Ah Jie comes home. I want to surprise him."

Not long after that, a car pulled up in front of the mansion. Its arrival signaled that Liu Haojie was home. Even though Weiwei and Haojie had become engaged not too long ago, both of them had decided to live together before the wedding ceremony. So, they jointly bought a mansion under their names and the rest was history.

As Haojie stepped in the mansion, the house staff greeted him. He looked around and saw no sight of his fiancée. Then he turned to the housekeeper next to him and asked about her whereabouts.

"Where is she?"

The housekeeper just smiled and bowed. Haojie understood what that smile meant.

He handed his coat to the housekeeper and walked upstairs to look for Weiwei. When he reached the bedroom door, he could clearly hear footsteps from inside.

His heart fluttered mischievously, and Haojie smiled at his fiancée's movements. He knew she was trying to surprise him, but she was being so obvious. Pretending as if he were unaware of her presence, he entered the room. When he neared the bed, she came up behind him, as expected, and he felt a warm feeling around his neck. Looking down, he saw a beige scarf and smiled.

"Do you like it?” Weiwei turned him around with a pout on her face. “You knew I was coming, didn't you?"

Haojie wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer.

"No, I didn't,” he said as he kissed her nose and thanked her. “I sure was surprised by the scarf."

After a few more minutes of flirting with one another, they sat down on the bed and started discussing each other's day.

"Weren't you surprised when Xiao Yang suddenly said she was looking to start working for a corporation? I bet that friend of hers, Yong Zixuan, signed her up for this."

"Well, it's not a bad idea, darling. It might help Qinyang,” Haojie pulled Weiwei onto his lap and hugged her waist.

"I know, but I'm just worried,” Weiwei sighed. “What if she breaks down like she did that one time?"

He leaned in and rested his chin on her shoulder, "Let's trust her. She is stronger than you think"

"Hmm..." she played with the ends of the scarf, still unsure of his words.

"Speaking of which, she is applying to work for Lee Corporation. It's a good place to start. I heard the head of the company is Mr. Lee's son. He is young, isn’t he?” Haojie pondered. “The last time either of us had a collaboration with the Lee family, Mr. Lee was still the head. I wonder what kind of person his son is."

He remembered seeing the younger Lee once on his birthday banquet when Haojie was younger. Weiwei nodded in agreement, leaning into his neck.

"Yes, since his son stepped up, Lee Corporation has been expanding its business. It makes me want to work harder."

Haojie couldn't agree more. If he wanted to bring his company to greater heights, he needed to improve as well.

Weiwei jolted upright and smiled as an idea popped into her head.

"Let's invite Mr. Lee and his son to the party to show our gratitude for their collaborating with us last time. How about that?"

Kissing the back of her neck, Haojie took in her scent and murmured, "My wife is so smart."

Weiwei giggled at the ticklish feeling and playfully hit his lap, “You really can’t wait ‘til the day we say our vows."

The two of them continued to flirt until their eyes closed.

Fengyuan knocked on the door before opening it. Upon entering the room, he saw Junting massaging his tired eyes as he read through important documents. Feng Yuan let out a light cough.

"Junting, are you alright? You should rest."

"I will,” Junting said while he set down the documents in his hand. “Soon. What did you come here for?"

Walking towards him, Fengyuan showed him the screen of the tablet in his hand.

"You’ve heard about the Saints Fund Organization, right?"

"The one that raises funds for those in need?" Junting raised his eyebrows.

He hadn’t really paid much attention to the organization before, but his father frequently talked about them and took every chance he could to praise them and their work.

Fengyuan nodded, "They’ve invited you and your father to their auction and party. Coincidentally, it is the day before our next round of interviews, and it’s also in Shanghai. Do you want to go or should I decline the invitation?"

Junting’s eyes scanned the screen Fengyuan presented him and assessed the contents of the email for a moment before giving his reply.

"I will go,” he said, “but you are coming with me."

Fengyuan tilted his head and placed the tablet under his arm.

"Huh?” he blinked. “Why? Don’t you want to go with your father? Not just anyone can easily get an invitation from them.”

"My father will be in the Philippines that week, so he can't attend. Explain it in the email. Also, say that if they won’t allow you to come with me, then I won't go."

Junting picked up the documents he was reading earlier, refusing to talk anymore.

Fengyuan gaped at his words.

'Why do I have to come along? The people there are arrogant as hell. I can't stand them. You can go alone, right?'

The wolf glanced sideways at Fengyuan, who stood in place with confusion.

"You’re still here?"

Fengyuan woke up from his daze and replied, "Ah... no. I will send the reply email now."
