A few months passed, still on high alert for all the events that we had been through, but things didn't seem to calm down. That guy Dan, is still a teacher at that school, I don't know how he even got into the position in the first place.
To get our minds off things Leona and I went on a date, and for her safety we brought Andrea. The relationship with Leona the past few months felt strained. She has changed a bit, but it is likely due to the overwhelming stress she has been through.
"Hey, earth to Hikari, what are you thinking about" – Leona waved her left hand in front of my face.
"Yeah, sorry, just lost in thought" – All of these months, all the things we have been through…
"Don't worry too much, whatever will be we will go through it together" – The place where we chose the date, it a port not too far away from my home.
Andrea is silently watching us from a bit further away
"Come on you two, let's go watch the sea, this breeze is amazing" – Her tone is happy but she is clearly hiding something from us.
I don't understand Andrea as much as Leona does, but I think she has caught onto this as well. Andrea hides something from both of us.
"Coming right now" – Leona grabbed my hand and we both began walking to the pier where we could feel the ocean breeze.
A light and cool breeze washed over us, it was pleasant, not too hot, not too cold.
I can imagine living in a moment like this forever, everything is peaceful and it feels like it's going to last forever.
"Take in the breeze now, we can't stay long here. We still need to be careful." - Of course, Leona is gonna say that, I know I was the one worrying but she has her point.
"Big sister, do you think we will need to move from Japan or in another part of Japan?" - Andrea's words didn't go unnoticed as Leona turned to her quickly.
"Well, we will wait and see what happens, that's all we can do for now"
"I will go for a bit, I saw an ice cream truck nearby, I will go get ourselves some ice cream" – Andrea rose from where she was standing, but Leona quickly grabbed her hand.
"We will go with you. I need to know you safe" – Leona turned her gaze at me, her eyes say everything, she has already decided.
"Count me in as well" – I rose from my seat as well and then followed Andrea to the ice cream truck.
During these months that we spent together, I can only think of how much I bonded with both Leona and Andrea, I want moments like these to last forever, where we are happy, when we are together.
But good times, never really last.
It only lasted for a few moments, but then….
"Strawberry flavor please" – The man in the truck, sounds familiar.
"Everyone, stay back!" - Leona pushed out of the way.
"Perceptive as ever" – The man in the truck, he was Dan. He pulled out a gun, somehow Leona knew or seen the gun in advance.
"Thought you forgot about us, you fucker" – Leona reach inside the truck trying to wrestle the gun out of his hands.
She got slammed into the front open part of the truck.
"Run" – I grabbed Andrea's hands and we started running, there was a police car nearby, and we tried to make our way there as fast as possible.
Turning my head back Leona is inside the truck now, a few gunshots can be heard, no time for this now. I only hope she will be ok, my chest feels like it's collapsing on itself, my feet are numb and my whole body is starting to get cold, the fear is too intense for me to do anything other than run.
The cops from the car noticed the gunshots in the distance and they were driving toward us with their lights on.
It took them a few seconds to get to us, parking their card in a way to protect us if there are an incoming gunshots.
"You two stay here, we will go an see what is happening"- There were 3 officers in total there.
Meanwhile in the ice cream truck:
"Fucker, just die!"- It's the 20th punch that I delivered to this guy and still wouldn't die, I guess it takes more punches to kill humans.
"Not happening, little girl" – I managed to get up from the ground by kicking Dan off me. I managed to kick him outside on the pavement, toward us, 2 police officers were heading our way.
"Would you look at that" – He spoke while trying to grab his gun to shoot at the officer, but this time I lunged at the gun throwing it further away from us, I managed to put my hand around his throat and somehow immobilize him. It wasn't perfect but the police had their guns drawn out, but they understood the situation.
They first tried to handcuff Dan but he kicked them off and ran for the gun, I didn't know what to do.
"Can I help you catch him?" - I said slowly to an officer while Dan was running away.
"No, stay here and we will go" – Dan was already running for the police car and I was expecting the worst, I swear I would kill him if I got the chance.
"Fuck you" – My last words before starting to run after Dan.
He was already at the car and 1 gunshot could be heard.
"Fucker!" - When I arrive the police officer was already dead behind the car, I grabbed his gun and went to the car's front where Hikari and Andrea are, the other police officers caught up to me, and they froze in the spot at the sight of the dead officer, backing away from Dan.
"Listen here little girl, I want one thing and you know that. Give me the HDD now and I will leave you alone"
"Not a chance" – I raised the gun at him, and he did the same thing, but at the last second instead of shooting toward me he shot toward Hikari and Andrea, I didn't think much before acting, I pulled the trigger of the gun aimed directly at his throat and then head, the police officers were useless, they froze and didn't do anything.
Andrea, Hikari, I looked toward their direction, Hikari was also frozen on the spot and Andrea, was on the ground, in a pool of blood not moving, she got shot in the head, instant death, she maybe wanted to protect Hikari or me, sacrificing herself, I couldn't even see it, there is no goodbye.
All I could do was fall on my knees looking at the spot where Andrea was.
