Magic has returned to the world.
To some, magic is a truth they've known their entire lives. It sets them apart, sets them above. They use their powers to subjugate, manipulate, and destroy, and they join mundane society with sadistic, ambitious glee.
To others, magic is a gift to be shared with all who desire it. It belongs to every human on Earth, and they'll stop at nothing to ready the planet for that birthright, even if it means standing against the wizards of the old order.
And to the rest, magic is a threat. Its wielders spread throughout their cities and their schools, burning, terrorizing, and enslaving while the authorities stand helpless. The people are left desperate, afraid, and willing to do whatever it takes to push back.
This is a story about a broken world and broken people, about the magic and the mundane, about the foreign and the familiar.
And how to cling to hope when the night is darkest.
