The inspiration for the Adventurers' Guild , other than it being an isekai staple, was the Japanese phenomenon from 1946-1960s in which people would wait outside a designated location and join assignments that needed them. So on one day, you could be a construction worker, and on another, you could be a hauler. I'm not sure what this phenomenon was called — I haven't read that piece for a very long time, so take what I said with a dose of skepticism.
