Chapter 69 - The Gallows of Vision

Li Wenjie slammed the official memorandum declaring the vision debate onto his desk, his sharp glare locking onto Mingzhi. "My father obviously wants to clear a path for that bastard Kawin to leapfrog Changwei. That's why he staged this ridiculous debate just to show everyone how brilliant his golden boy is."

Mingzhi casually adjusted his spectacles, settling them into place. "Do not distress yourself, young master. Since we cannot alter the Chairman’s decree, why not simply convert this vision forum into a public execution ground instead?... I have already engineered a very special welcome gift for Mr. Kawin."

"What kind of gift?" Wenjie raised an eyebrow, his curiosity instantly piqued.

Mingzhi displayed a sly, vulpine grin as he slid a confidential file toward the heir. "I intend to deploy this strategy at the exact micro-second the Chairman prepares to stamp his final approval on Kawin’s project."

Wenjie retrieved the dossier, flipping through the pages one by one. The moment his eyes registered the contents of the report, his lips curled into a thoroughly malicious smirk.

"You truly are a demon, Mingzhi," Wenjie uttered, casting a sidelong glance from the corner of his eye. "Kawin is going to meet a catastrophic end right in front of the entire assembly." He carelessly tossed the folder back onto the desk.

"Indeed, young master," Mingzhi replied, shifting his gaze upward with chilling tranquility. "Kawin’s Valley Project will be exposed as nothing more than the naive daydream of an uninitiated child... You need only sit back and enjoy the showpiece."

Wenjie traced his fingers gently across the cover of the report. "Let him parade his utopian ideals to his heart’s content... I will be the one to personally drag him down and expose his ruin to the world."

Mingzhi offered a compliant bow, a sharp smirk dancing upon his lips.

Tum tracked a pitch-black, suffocating aura radiating from an individual down the corridor, his curiosity overpowering his caution. He shadowed the target until he witnessed a tall man in his late fifties bowing deeply to the master strategist, Mingzhi.

"Good evening, sir," the man greeted, lowering his head in a submissive gesture.

"Are you keeping well, Board Director Chen?" Mingzhi inquired.

Tum instantly spun his body around, pressing himself against the opposite side of the wall.

So, this is Director Chen.

"Any updates regarding Yongchang?" Mingzhi asked flatly.

"Yongchang is currently scrambling to secure another audience with that logistics tycoon, especially after Mr. Kawin submitted that comprehensive report about the firm to the Chairman."

"And what is the outcome?"

"It appears that logistics giant has completely shut its doors to any further negotiations with Yongchang, sir."

"Well, that is entirely predictable..." Mingzhi let out a cold, mocking sneer, chuckling softly. "Now that absolute leverage has been handed directly to CEO Kawin on a silver platter, who in their right mind would waste time speaking with a washed-up failure?"

"Then what are your directives for Yongchang, sir?" Director Chen pressed.

"Tell him to keep his mouth tightly shut, maintain absolute radio silence, and most importantly... curb his gluttony during this volatile phase," Mingzhi commanded, his voice dropping into a menacing baritone. "Ensure his insatiable greed doesn't cause a scene that reaches the Chairman's ears. If he slips up, I will cut him loose without hesitation."

"Understood, sir..." Director Chen acknowledged before bowing once more, and the two conspirators retreated in separate directions.

Tum slowly peered out from around the corner of the wall before turning to make his exit. However, the moment he took a single step past the intersection of the building... his feet froze dead in their tracks.

Mingzhi was standing right in front of him, a mere few paces away. His deep, calculating eyes were locked onto Tum, unblinking.

"This corridor is rather extensive... Walking behind me for this long must have been quite exhausting, wouldn't you agree?" Mingzhi uttered, his gaze slicing through the air sharper than a razor blade.

Tum stood entirely paralyzed, slowly releasing a shaky breath into the tense silence.
