Chapter 2 - Stealing the cookies

The sky shined brightly with the sun's light. Comparatively, the bird's were cheerful, chirped at one another. The winds gently gave a delightful breeze as if a mother was wrapping her children in a soft blanket.

Down, down, and down below, if one wished to see genuine happiness should sneak into the Olasteck forest, where they would hear the joyful noises coming from the old cozy cottage.

Eleanor Kael, the mother of two children, wearing her bright yellow apron, in mischief glared at her naughty children.

As if trying to catch a thief, she slowly prowled behind them she shouted,"Maria and Nixon, stop that!" Putting her hands on her hips, she playfully glared at the children who were trying to steal her half baked cookies.

The two children, surprised turned to each other and stared at each other and then slowly turn around to see the unhappy face on their mother.

"Who do you think you are, trying to steal my cookies" Eleanor squeaked while pointing her finger at both of them.

"huh, you didn't know? ah, hun, you give birth to us?" replied Maria mimicking her mother's actions while she chewed on her stolen goods.

Giggling, the little boy, try to steal the rest of the cookies without anyone's noticing. However, to his surprise, they both turned and screamed at him.

"PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN!"

Startled, he decided to play the oldest trick in the book. Crying. Moreover, very loudly.

With his puppy blue and teary eyes, he stared at them both, for he knows they would fall for it.

"AWE! Don't cry," the mother softly said as she and Maria panicking gazed at each other back and forth.

"It's your fault, lady Maria, I told you to look after him!" the mother said automatically trying to blame her daughter as if this happened before.

Maria not wanting to back down to her mother's inquiries answered sarcastically, " Excuse me lady Eleanor, you forget you were the one trying to stop us."

" What? Me" Eleanore guilty pointed to herself, wanting to make her baby smile again she looked toward her son, only to see him in action.

She winked at Maria and directed her head toward her son.

Maria looked at her goofy brother and rolled her eyes while smiling. Thinking to herself, why am I not surprised?

On the other hand, seeing his older sister and mother arguing Nixon suppressed his laughter. He crept his hands slowly towards the cookies, and one by one put them his pocket not knowing he been caught red-handed.

Maria turned her eyes, eyeing him up and down and burst into laughter, while the mother smiled at him trying to suppress her laughter.

As if he had an ominous feeling, Nixon turned bright red at hearing his older sister laugh so loud.

Coming closer to him, Eleanor swooped her son, into her arms and playfully pinched his cheeks softly, "Well, ain't you a smart fellah."

Nixon, trying to play it innocently nod his head quickly.

Maria rolled her eyes, and lighthearted stated, "hmmm I bet he won't mind showing us what in his pocket."

Nixon's eyes widened as he knew he was in big trouble.
