Another World LGBTQ+ Reincarnation
Female Lead Romance
Everything was perfect. Bea's dreams had finally come true, and Dre's team was coming home soon. All she had to do was wait, then welcome, then celebrate. She should not have gone to Palaestra.
It was a stupid decision, but Bea just had to follow her partner because ... that's what partners do. They go places together. They did things for each other, with each other. (No, it had absolutely nothing to do with doubt and fear and jealousy.)
Palaestra is perfect. Every person has a home; every traveler, a destination. Every creature has a soul. Every soul has a mate. Every soulmate has a mark — a tattoo, a watch, a dream, a scar — something.
But she's ... perfect. Not a freckle on her skin, not a strand of different shade, not a leash in the guise of a necklace. Not a single clue of her partner's whereabouts. Not a memory of them. No idea how to make it out of Palaestra alive.

If you jumped in because of the synopsis, the start can be a bit confusing. The first chapters made me wonder how the synopsis fits into the story until the first dream. From there, it gets more interesting. But don't expect problems to be familiar or similar to the usual coz how many problems can our universe share with a "perfect" world? That said, I love how the writer took the soulmate trope to the next level. This is the first novel I've ever read that deals with *before* life instead of present/afterlife. Even so, the characters feel authentic with the way they interact. I easily got attached. Wolf's efforts in research show in all the little details hinting at their possible race, like the food, the symbols, or the descriptions of the places. I appreciate that. All in all, I think Soul Searching is off to a good start. Hopefully, they keep it up.

Unique setting and context? Check. Well-thought out characters? Check. It's so nice to see a world that runs on love. Everyone's work is their passion, and everyone's partner is who they're really meant to be with even though it's not always romantic. I also like Bea's personality shift when she's with her sibling figures (Jo and Niel) versus when she's with prospective partners. 🤣 I also love that how you characterized the main guide/viewers' representative because she literally says what I think about something then drops a really clever line that's either just witty or leading me into a philosophical train of thought. Paula just makes me reflect, and that's probably what makes me attached to her most. I still wish we got more of Johari though. In my head, she's everything that's good in the world -- and this story's in an ideal world so that's saying something. I'm already invested in just eight chapters so please 😭 I hope this gets updated soon.

MORE MORE MORE!! Soul Searching is beautifully written, and the characters are so well developed, they feel like real people. The story is super engrossing and explores important themes like love, loss, and consequences. The beginning can be a bit bland, like maybe feel to normal for a fantastical world, real but once I settled into their universe, I ended up bingeing the chapters. 😭😭😭 What I love most about the book is how the author takes the soulmate trope to a whole new level by exploring the idea of before life instead of the usual afterlife stuff. I LOVE IT, please update this tyyyy
