After the brutal battle, Leo and Hope managed to grab some food before boarding the bus. Just as they settled into their seats, Perry and Miller stepped down the aisle, looking exhausted but lively.
"So," Perry called out, looking over at them. "Who actually killed the Vector?"
Leo grinned, pointing a thumb at the kid next to him. "Our one and only Hope, of course."
The group erupted in laughter.
Hope rolled his eyes, looking at the veterans. "Hey, who usually handles the Vectors in your group anyway?"
"Me," Perry said proudly, puffing out his chest.
"Only because you cheat!" Miller snapped, crossing his arms.
Perry smirked. "That's your problem, Miller. You have absolutely no patience."
Miller groaned, burying his face in his hands. "Ahh, whatever."
Turning his attention back to the rookie, Perry asked, "So Hope, how did it feel killing your first Vector?"
"Honestly? The kill felt great," Hope replied, giving Leo a sharp side-eye. "But Leo's betrayal didn't feel good at all."
Miller blinked, suddenly interested. "Betrayal? What do you mean?"
"When the Vector showed up, this guy completely ditched me," Hope said, mimicking Leo's voice in a high-pitched, goofy tone. "
'Oh, don't worry, Hope! It's just a little mission for your experience!'
"
"Hey, trust me, it worked," Leo chuckled, completely unbothered.
"Trust you? What if I died on my very first mission?" Hope complained, throwing his hands up. "Aditya God would be looking down from the heavens like,
'Why did I even bother saving this kid?'
"
The entire bus burst out laughing again.
Once the chuckles died down, Hope turned back to Miller. "Wait, what did you mean by Perry cheating?"
"Man, what the heck else would you call it?" Miller complained loudly. "I fought that Vector for what felt like an eternity! The exact moment I went to quickly check the village perimeter, this guy sneaks up from behind and steals my kill!"
"It's called tactical skill, my friend," Perry countered smoothly, leaning back against the window. "I stay hidden, and I use patience."
"Just watch. Next time, I'm definitely killing the Vector or the enemies first," Miller muttered, cracking his knuckles.
"Sure, ok," Perry teased.
Leo turned to Hope, his tone turning a bit more serious. "Jokes aside, Hope—where did you learn such incredible swordsmanship?"
"I went through the Aegis training program," Hope explained. "And I had a few top-tier experts teach me some high-level tricks along the way."
"Wow," Leo muttered, genuinely impressed.
Hope grinned, pointing an accusing finger. "Yeah,
wowwww
. Next time you try to excuse your betrayal, just remember you're dealing with an expert sword fighter!"
"Alright, alright, don't cry like a baby," Leo laughed, waving his hand to dismiss the threat. He leaned forward, changing the subject. "So, what's the deal with the different Flux types we saw out there?"
Perry nodded, counting them off on his fingers. "It all comes down to how they manifest their energy:
Green Types:
They have insane movement options. Highly agile on the battlefield.
Water Types:
They have flawless, incredibly smooth control over raw Flux.
Wind Types:
Pure, unadulterated super speed.
Fire Types:
They pack a ridiculous, destructive level of raw Flux energy."
With the quick knowledge trip wrapped up, the rowdy bus rolled forward into the nigh
