The snipers spotted Yang Bin and opened fire simultaneously.
Yang Bin blinked forward ten-plus meters in an instant, dodging every round, then sprinted downhill toward the crowd. Too far to teleport directly-he'd have to close the gap on foot.
Below, the stubborn bastards refused to learn their lesson. Another rocket launcher was hoisted onto someone's shoulder, aimed at Zhong Yuansen's earthen wall. Fire.
The rocket streaked skyward.
Halfway up, it curved. Reversed. Came screaming back down.
"Fuck!"
Wang Hui wanted to strangle someone.
"Get down!"
Bodies hit the dirt.
"BOOM!!"
Another crater. Another few dozen corpses.
"What the-did that bastard Ma sell us a dud? There's something wrong with this launcher!"
Wang Hui was losing his mind. How the hell does a rocket do a U-turn!?
On the slope above, Yang Bin's momentary pause while redirecting the rocket cost him. Two impacts slammed into his body simultaneously.
These weren't ordinary rifles. High-powered sniper platforms loaded with Armor-Piercing Rounds. Even he couldn't shrug those off.
One punched into his shoulder. The other buried itself in his chest.
Both rounds sank deep. Yang Bin's teeth ground together, pain lancing through him like white fire.
But this wasn't the time to be precious about it. He clenched his jaw, zigzagged down the slope-left, right, left-closing distance until only a hundred meters separated him from the crowd below.
Then he teleported.
His figure materialized in the middle of the enemy formation. The Barbell Rod whipped out in savage arcs, bodies crumpling with every swing.
"He's down here! Kill him!"
Wang Hui showed no fear at Yang Bin's arrival. Heavy machine guns were wheeled out immediately, barrels swinging toward Yang Bin. They opened up-full auto, point blank, not caring one bit about their own men standing nearby.
"Ruthless bastard."
Yang Bin muttered it almost appreciatively, then teleported again-straight into the machine gun crews.
He'd deliberately waited until he was only a hundred meters out before his first teleport. A max-range jump would've drained his Mental Energy completely, leaving him stranded if things got hairy. By conserving, he'd kept just enough in the tank for one more blink.
He spent it now.
Appearing among the gunners, Yang Bin struck instantly. Every man on a trigger died in the space of a breath. Then he brought the rod down on the guns themselves-one, two, three swings-bending those long barrels into useless scrap metal.
"Shit!"
Wang Hui's face twisted. He spun toward the men behind him. "Go! Now!"
Dozens of Tier-5 Evolvers armed with military bayonets surged toward Yang Bin.
They'd come prepared. Credit where it was due.
Too bad they'd still underestimated the Star Fall Squad.
Dozens of Tier-5 Evolvers was a terrifying force on paper. But they were charging a bandit king whose combined strength already exceeded Tier-6 Peak.
Yang Bin swung the Barbell Rod in a wide arc. The lead attackers launched off their feet like they'd been hit by a truck. The rod kept moving-a blur of steel-and not a single Tier-5 could close the distance.
If Tier-5 couldn't get near him, the surrounding Tier-4 Evolvers were just walking dead. One touch of the rod and they were done.
Meanwhile, Chen Hao had locked onto the snipers' positions.
Invisible and fast, he ghosted up behind the first one. Dagger across the throat. Head hit the ground before the body did. Clean.
He was already moving to the next.
One by one, the snipers dropped. Peaceful deaths, every one of them-no awareness, no pain. They simply ceased to exist.
As the sniper fire thinned out, Zhong Yuansen and the others charged downhill.
This time, the Star Fall Squad showed what they really were.
Zhao Kun stopped holding back. Both arms shifted to gleaming metal, and he waded into the crowd swinging. Wherever he passed, people burst apart like overripe fruit. Every hit was an explosion of red.
His ability looked quite different from Wang Ruikai's old version now. Even if someone recognized the similarity, it had been so long they'd never make the connection.
Elsewhere, the ground simply opened up. A dozen men dropped into a sudden pit with startled screams-then a massive boulder fell from above and sealed them in like a lid on a coffin.
Zhong Yuansen's handiwork drew appreciative whistles from the squad. Professional-grade burial service.
Hu Wenliang's hands flickered with dark energy. Streaks of black light lanced out-Dark Bolts punching clean through skulls one after another.
The eternal healer finally had an offensive ability, and he was having the time of his life.
His Dark Bolts had absurd penetrating power. A single shot often skewered three or four people in a line.
Old Hei's fireballs sailed through the air in every direction. The man had waited ages for a combat ability, and he wasn't holding anything back. Within seconds, his entire section of the battlefield was a raging inferno.
Only Skinny Monkey looked annoyed. His ability was... awkward for mass combat.
But not useless. Whenever someone raised a weapon to strike him, he'd lock eyes with them. They'd freeze mid-swing, blank-faced and helpless. Then he'd finish them at his leisure.
Wang Hui stared at the carnage.
His brain short-circuited.
Three ability users. That's what the intel said. One Tier-6 Evolver. That's what he'd been told.
What the fuck was this?
Every single one of them had abilities. More than half were Tier-6.
"Fuck this-fight what!?"
"They sent me here to die!"
The reality was crystal clear now. This group's strength was beyond anything they'd anticipated. His forces couldn't touch them.
Wang Hui mentally cursed every ancestor of whoever had gathered that intelligence. Then he made the only call left.
"RETREAT!"
The crowd collectively exhaled and ran. Flat-out, desperate sprinting.
Against these people, they were lambs who'd wandered into a wolf den on their own four legs. Resistance was a joke.
"Hmph. Come whenever you want, leave whenever you want?"
"You think this is your backyard?" Yang Bin's voice was cold.
"Kill them."
The squad gave chase, cutting down fleeing enemies from behind without mercy.
This time, nobody was getting off easy.
"Ah Sen, hold up a sec."
"What's up, boss?" Zhong Yuansen had been enjoying himself. He jogged back over.
"Dig a hole. Bury these heavy machine guns and those two portable rocket launchers. We'll come back for them later."
"On it!"
Zhong Yuansen pressed his palm to the earth. The ground collapsed inward, opening into a deep pit right before their eyes.
The two of them quickly lowered the heavy machine guns and both portable rocket launchers inside.
That's when Chen Hao came jogging up with several Barrett rifles slung across his back.
"Throw these in too. These things hit like a truck."
"Nice haul!" Yang Bin's eyes lit up.
Once everything was stashed, Zhong Yuansen pressed his palm down again. The earth flowed back into place like it had never been disturbed.
"Your ability is genuinely useful as hell," Yang Bin said.
"Haha, yeah. I'm a fan too."
"Alright, let's catch up. Time the Wang family and that Mayor Ma learned we're not the ones to fuck with."
"Mm!"
