Chapter 150 - The Wang Family Base

"Why didn't you kill me?"

Wang Hui glared at Yang Bin, eyes bloodshot.

"Oh, I'm going to kill you. Just need to ask a few questions first." Yang Bin was refreshingly straightforward about it.

"......"

"Heh. You think I'd tell you anything?"

"I think you will."

"Dream on! I'm dead either way - you won't get a single word out of me!"

"That's not really up to you. Monkey, hit him with Charm."

"......."

Skinny Monkey's eyes went wide. He sidled up to Yang Bin and whispered, "Bin-ge, my ability only controls people for a bit. Not sure it'll work."

"It'll work. You're stronger than him. Crank up the intensity and you should be able to hold him for a while."

"Alright, I'll give it a shot."

Skinny Monkey walked up, locked eyes with Wang Hui, and activated his ability.

Within seconds, Wang Hui's expression went slack.

"What's your name?" Yang Bin asked.

"Wang Hui."

"What's your relation to the Wang Family?"

"I'm the Patriarch's cousin."

The group exchanged glances. Viable.

"Where's the Wang Family base?"

"It's in..."

A flicker of resistance crossed Wang Hui's eyes, but Skinny Monkey pushed harder. The slack expression returned.

"Golf Town. Minghu District."

"Oh, so that's where it is." Skinny Monkey nodded knowingly.

"How do you know about it?"

"Uh... I've heard of it. Apparently it's where rich people love to hang out."

"......"

"Monkey, why the hell are you researching this stuff all day?"

"I just wanted to know how rich people live, okay?" Skinny Monkey said, scratching his head.

"......."

While Skinny Monkey was busy talking, Wang Hui snapped out of the Charm.

"What... what happened to me?"

"Nothing. You were very cooperative."

"......"

"Bin-ge, need to ask anything else? I can Charm him again."

"Yeah. Ask about the base layout."

"On it!"

"You... don't think you'll get another word out of me!"

The moment he finished speaking, Wang Hui yanked out a dagger and slashed it across his own throat.

Had to give it to the guy - he was ruthless.

"Liangzi, patch him up."

"Got it."

Hu Wenliang nodded, flicked his wrist casually, and a pulse of white light settled over Wang Hui's neck.

The gash sealed itself at visible speed, skin knitting back together until not even a scar remained.

"......."

Wang Hui stood there, utterly stupefied.

"Are you people fucking devils!?"

In that moment, a terror unlike anything he'd ever known seized Wang Hui - bone-deep, soul-deep.

Dying wasn't scary. Wanting to die and not being allowed to? That was true horror.

God above - what kind of monsters had the Wang Family provoked?

Yang Bin didn't spare him a glance. He looked at Skinny Monkey. "Again."

"Don't - I'll talk! I'll tell you everything! Just... please, give me a quick death!"

Wang Hui had shattered completely.

"See? Would've been easier if you'd cooperated from the start."

Yang Bin smiled, then calmly asked about the base's internal layout, the Wang Family's structure, and directions to get there. Once he had what he needed, he granted Wang Hui his release.

Wang Hui died looking relieved. He'd never wanted death so badly in his life.

Zhao Kun picked up Wang Hui's oddly-shaped blade and gave it a few experimental swings.

"Not bad. This thing's probably custom-forged. Solid quality."

The others grabbed a few weapons as well.

The Wang Family must have had connections in manufacturing - the craftsmanship was genuinely impressive.

Everyone had been using Barbell Rods up until now. They'd felt great to swing, but after reaching the Yaoguang Realm, something was off.

Mainly, they couldn't use full strength without bending the damn things.

It wasn't that these new weapons were tougher than the rods - it was a matter of physics. Barbell Rods were blunt instruments that relied purely on brute force. Past a certain threshold, the metal just couldn't take it.

Edged weapons were different. They relied on sharpness and concentrated force at a fine point, so they didn't need to absorb the same kind of impact.

Weapons secured, the group set off in the direction Wang Hui had indicated.

Wang Yueming had said the Wang Family base was formidable. Wang Hui confirmed there were plenty of strong fighters inside, though specifics remained unclear.

Still - being able to field dozens of Tier-5 Evolvers in a single deployment was no joke.

Under Yang Bin's lead, they skirted one massive zombie horde after another, moving fast toward the base.

After more than two hours of travel, they finally reached Golf Town.

Had to hand it to the Wang Family - the location was smart.

Far from the dense urban center, they didn't have to deal with massive zombie sieges. They could grow in peace, undisturbed.

Shortly after entering Golf Town, a medium-sized base came into view.

Yang Bin activated True Vision Eye and scanned it.

Roughly ten thousand people inside. Walls over four meters high, bristling with spikes on the exterior.

A Watchtower every few meters, each manned by a guard with a rifle.

A Heavy Machine Gun mounted on every face of the wall. Where they'd sourced those was anyone's guess.

"This Wang Family base is legit."

"No cover whatsoever in front of the walls. Those heavy machine guns are a problem." Zhao Kun frowned.

Even at the Yaoguang Realm, those things posed a real threat. A few rounds were manageable - sustained fire was a different story.

Anyone below Yaoguang? Don't even think about it.

"The guns aren't a big deal. I'll go knock them out first." Yang Bin wasn't worried about that. What concerned him was unknown threats inside.

Given the Wang Family's resources, high-powered sniper rifles were a certainty.

If they charged in and got encircled, with snipers positioned on elevated ground - that would be a real headache.

Ten thousand people. Once surrounded, nobody except him and Chen Hao was breaking out.

And there might be powerful ability users in there too.

A straight fight was fine. The worry was someone ambushing Old Hei and Skinny Monkey. Those two hadn't reached Yaoguang yet - a same-realm ability user catching them off guard could be fatal.

Taking down an entire base with just their small squad really wasn't simple.

But the Wang Family had come after him again and again. They had to be wiped out, or the problems would never stop.

After mulling it over, Yang Bin turned to Chen Hao. "Haozi. You and I go in first and take out the heavy guns. I'll draw their fire. You stay in Invisibility as long as possible. If you spot enemy snipers taking shots, eliminate them."

"No problem!"

"Don't reveal yourself until their snipers actually fire."

"Relax, Bin-ge. I've got a whole backpack of crystals. I can hold Invisibility till nightfall."

"......."

"The rest of you - don't move until we've cleared every Heavy Machine Gun. Old Hei, Monkey, you two sit this one out. You're not at Yaoguang yet. Going in could get you killed."

"Alright."

The two nodded, a little disappointed but without complaint.

The Star Fall Squad had long since developed blind faith in Yang Bin. If he said it was dangerous, it was dangerous. End of discussion.

"Remember - once you move in, stay together. Don't split up. Kill with abilities, don't hold back. We've got crystals to spare."

"Got it."

"Good. Wait here. Haozi and I are heading out."

"Mm."
