Chapter 0 - Codex I: Sequentia I: Prologue - The Gathering Storm

The sky was cloaked in a shroud of dark clouds as dusk descended upon the land. The formation of a solar eclipse had begun, casting an eerie twilight across the world.

1. Far Away:

In a distant land, Ravenna rode with urgency, her wives—Aiden, Lila, Isolde, Lyra and Selene in tow with Elizabeth—galloping by her side. Their faces were etched with determination.

“Faster,” Ravenna urged, her voice tight with anxiety. “We need to reach Raven's Crest before it’s too late.”

2. Very Far Away:

An old woman under a tree with a young man with chocolate brown skin beside her, is gazing into the sky.

She said, “We need to make a detour.”

“Where to?” asked the young man with dark skin.

“Raven’s Crest”

“Are we crossing the forest?”

“No, not yet.”

“Then?”

“I need to go.”

“Why?”

“To change the fate of those three.”

3. Raven’s Crest Forest Edge:

Near the outskirts of Raven's Crest, three female figures stood on the edge of the forest, the village walls visible in the distance. Sera, in her early thirties, stood solemnly with Vina, in her late teens, and Tia, in his mid-teens.

Together, they gazed at their home one last time. “Goodbye, Raven's Crest,” they whispered with heavy hearts.

With newfound resolve, they turned and began to walk into the depths of the forest.

4. Inside the Forest:

Perched atop a tall tree, a hunter surveyed the scene afar. Titanic beasts, their forms massive and terrifying, were crossing through the forest. His eyes widened in disbelief.

“Why…? Why are such monsters in the forest? How are they crossing over? Is the pact broken?” His voice trembled. “If those beasts breach the borders, this territory—no, the entire Aetheria Kingdom—will face disaster.”

5. Deeper in the Forest:

A group of hooded figures stood ominously. Behind them, the ground trembled as the titanic beasts marched forward, each step reverberating through the earth.

While the members of the groups are terrified looking at the titanic beasts, the leader of the group, his voice dripping with malice, laughs maniacally.

“Hahaha, today will be the end of Raven's Crest. No, it will be the end of Aetheria.”

6. Castle Terrace:

Under the ominous sky, where the eclipse was at its peak, the world was shrouded in darkness, a celestial-looking woman stood on a castle terrace, her gaze fixed on the heavens.

Behind her, a girl in her late teens approached, her voice tinged with concern. “Master, what is it?”

The woman’s eyes never left the sky as she spoke, her voice calm yet urgent.

“Send the word. We need to call a meeting with all the Thirteen Churches and the Emperor immediately.

7. —------------:

“Something has awakened.”

Hello Readers, Enough freeloading—it's time to pay up! (cracks knuckles menacingly) Where are my comments, where are my ratings, and where are my reviews? (slams the table) Haha, just kidding (but not really). Seriously though, I’d love some feedback! I’ve finally completed Volume 1 of my web novel, and what a journey it has been! A year ago, I started this series as a fun experiment, never imagining it would grow into something so meaningful to me. Would you believe me if I said, I initially planned to wrap up Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 in just 25 chapters? Even now, I can’t believe how I wrote this story. Fun fact: I initially wanted to write this as an Erotic novel. I never even had the Idea of making it into a long series. I just wanted to get some experience for my dream project. But as I developed the plot, I even felt like my own dream project for which I started this, may not be able to reach this work’s level. I felt it would be such a waste to make it as an Erotic work. There are many authors who could write better Erotic novels than me. I should tell a story which only I can tell. Looking back, I think it all worked out for the better. As a new writer, I know I’ve made my share of mistakes. For example, starting with Kevin’s POV before shifting to Tia’s seemed innovative at first, but readers found it not to their liking. Readers started to comment - ‘what was the use of a protagonist who doesn’t have much narration time.’ I was confused. Only later did I realize its importance. Someone even commented that I am ruining my work by doing it like this. I wanted to edit my story immediately but couldn’t. I was already running with a lot of things on my plate. I can’t even afford to release a chapter per week. I couldn’t find any more time to re-edit my work. So all I could do is to rearrange the chapter structure with slight changes and release it monthly once. Writing this novel came with its challenges—I often felt lost, questioning what I was doing or why. When I saw novels which have only a few chapters but still exceed my current view count, I seriously felt like I was wasting my time writing this novel. What came to my rescue at that time were the comments from the readers. Those comments were very encouraging to me. Even comments with single emoji were very much appreciated. And there are some readers who took their time to leave advice. I am thankful to all of you. To all my readers. Another problem I faced was with the relationship between Tia, Vina and Sera becoming a taboo. I even considered making Sera and Kevin together or killing off Sera and Vina. And there were many platforms which were even against publishing these sorts of themes. So I considered changing the relationship. But I did not get the feeling which I got with my original idea of the novel. After asking for feedback and much consideration, I have chosen to release 3 different versions of the novel. But I will be releasing my original version on SH. A lot of readers also questioned Tia’s limited role in Vol. 1. That was because I never planned to write vol1 in 45 chapters. That is why the chapters were moving at such a fast pace during the first 10 chapters. But, you know, how things never go as planned. As the story evolved, things stretched to 2 volumes. Still, I think it was for the better. On that note, consider Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 as two halves of the same book—it’s just become too big to release as one volume. Currently, what I need is feedback. How was the novel? What are the parts I need to improve? Do you think it was a worthwhile read? What kind of plot lines do you want to see in the future? Any new Ideas you want me to incorporate? Anything you can think of. I know I can't satisfy everyone and I might not even be able to incorporate the advice you gave me. But I think I still need some feedback. Through all the platforms I released my novel, my current stats: 1,275 readers and 60k views, mostly on SH. Not too shabby, right? Lastly, Wishing you all a Happy New Year 2025! Thank you for being part of this journey. Yours sincerely, The Rainy Imp
