Chapter 8 - Level 10!

Hearing the shout that came from inside the house, I furrowed my eyebrows and stared at the door for a few seconds, during which I thought,

hopefully he will begin to trust me once I tell him that I killed the twenty wolves he wanted me to kill

.

I unfurrowed my eyebrows, “I killed the wolves, and like I said before, I only want to help you. I don’t want to and won’t hurt you. You can trust me,” I said in a loud clear voice.

A few seconds of silence passed; then a questioning voice sounded from inside the house, “You killed the wolves?”

I nodded my head, but as the door was separating us, the old man didn’t see me nodding and so I said, “Yeah, I killed them,” A few notification messages flashed in front of me; my stomach grumbled.

<Quest Completed>

<+500 XP>

<Level Up>

<Level 9>

<You have gained 15 attribute points>

<You have 15 unspent attribute points>

A few seconds of silence passed; then a voice sounded from the house, “Thank you, but please leave. If you are truly not planning on hurting me, just leave, please.”

I furrowed my eyebrows,

he still won’t trust me…

I unfurrowed my eyebrows, “I understand. I will leave, but before I do, is there anything else you need help with.” My stomach grumbled again.

A few seconds of silence passed; then a voice sounded from the house, “There is a wolf in the forest, it has a huge scar on its face. Kill it and bring its head as proof; If you do, I will believe that you want to help me.”

<Quest Received, Dungeon>

<Quest Level: 10>

<Quest name: Killing the wolf king>

<Quest Description: Kill the wolf king>

<Quest Reward 1: 60,000 XP>

<Quest Reward 2: 6 talent point>

<Quest Accepted>

The wolf king? Is he for real? Did he just give me the sixth; the hardest variation of the final quest of the beginner zone? Is he trying to kill me? And shouldn’t there be 4 quests before this one?... The first variation alone, is so hard that no solo player could solo it, that is unless they were playing a hidden class like my warlock or some kind of hidden race. But anything from the second variation was impossible for one player alone. And the sixth variation, the hardest of all variations was so hard that only two parties were able to clear them before <Level 20>. How am I supposed to beat it solo? With only one skill no less… Wait a minute, why do I only have one skill? By this level I should have 5 skills in total. In the game, warlocks got all their skills automatically by reaching certain levels, but I didn’t receive a single notification for any single learnt skill… I should check out my <Spellbook> window. Spellbook!

A window opened in front of me; in the window there was only one skill.

<Shadow Bolt, Damages the target for 130% Intellect as damage + 100% Weapon Damage, Cast time: 2 seconds, Range: 40-yards, Cost: 50 Mana>

 No skills except for <Shadow Bolt>,

I sighed,

how am I supposed to learn new skills?... Close window!

A window closed,

character!

My character window opened in front of me.

I looked over my attributes,

the monsters that I will face in this hardest variation, will kill me in two attacks with my current health. And if my <Shadow Bolt> deals around 100 damage, it will take me more than 16 <Shadow Bolt> spells to kill one. At my current level that is.

I smirked,

I first need to increase my level to <Level 10> and choose the talent specialisation. With talents chosen, I will reevaluate my chances once again.

“I will come back old man,” I said in a clear loud voice and walked away towards the forest without waiting for the old man’s reply.

I entered the forest and immediately saw a wolf standing in front of me, about 26-yards away.

<Wolf, Level 5>

<HP: 250/250>

I raised my right arm

, extended it towards it and opened my palm,

Shadow Bolt!

My hand got enveloped in a black glow

, and the words I needed to say floated up in my head,

L'togael bolt!

” A black bolt flew out of my palm.

After killing four wolves, I received 20 copper coins and 200 experience points, which filled up my experience bar completely and levelled me up from <Level 9> to <Level 10>; notification messages started flashing in front of me.
