A rumbling sound sounded and when it stopped Zai’s stone face turned into a serious one, “I understand. Your test as per Lyan’s instructions is to answer a question. Are you ready?”
A question?
I thought as I slightly tilted my head in confusion; then I nodded my head, “I am listening.”
“What is the most important thing a warrior must have?” Zai said.
I closed my eyes and thought,
the most important thing a warrior must have? A weapon? Pretty important. A shield? Important as well. Armour? Also important… But you could be a warrior even without those three. So that means that not one of them is that important.
I shook my head,
maybe the answer is much more basic… What is the first thing you think when you say – ‘warrior’… Strength? Is the correct answer – ‘strength’? Hmm… I am not so sure about that… Now that I think about the word – ‘warrior’, there was this one crazy guy in prison. He always called himself a warrior and always picked fights with every inmate. One time a prison guard asked him what makes him a warrior and he replied by saying – ‘honour’…
I opened my eyes, “Honour.”
Zai closed his eyes and a rumbling sound sounded, only stopping when his eyes were completely closed. “That is correct,” he said with them closed, and following his words, I breathed out a sigh of relief. The two torches by the statue extinguished themselves, a rumbling sound sounded and a path behind the statue opened.
Let’s go,
I thought and I walked past Zai’s statue, into the opened exit.
Entering it, I once again found myself in a corridor and I walked down it. This corridor
like the corridor from before had torches every 5-yards and every time I passed by the torches they would light up.
After
passing more than 200 torches, I walked out into a medium sized room. This room was identical to the room from before, and in the middle of the room stood two torches and a statue. But instead of Zai’s statue, stood another statue. This statue was that of a full armoured bald orc man with a huge shield in his left hand and a huge axe in right hand.
I blinked my eyes slightly surprised,
so the ten heroes were not just from one faction, but from both. Looking at his equipment, it is clear that he will give me the gladiator class. It is an excellent class and it is of a neutral alignment.
I sighed,
but I don’t deserve it.
I sighed again,
I received it, not because of my luck or of my thoughts or of my knowledge. I received it, because, I said something that I heard someone else say…
I walked up to the statue. Two torches lit up; then the statue’s eyes lit up and began shining in a golden glow. A status bar appeared above the statue’s head.
<Lyan, Level 100>
<HP:3,072,000/3,072,000>
Lyan moved his stone eyes and a rumbling sound sounded, only stopping when he had his eyes on me, “You have passed my test. You are honourable, and by being honourable you are worthy to receive my inheritance, and become a gladiator. Do you accept?”
I shook my head, “No, I don’t.”
A rumbling sound sounded, and a slight frown appeared on Lyan’s stone face, “I see,” he said and a rumbling sound sounded again; when it stopped, a serious expression appeared on his stone face, “Answer this question, necromancy is a taboo magic that must never be touched, yes or no?”
I furrowed my eyebrows and thought,
if I answer ‘no’, I will most likely be given a choice to become a necromancer, but it is an evil alignment class.
I unfurrowed my eyebrows, “Yes, it should never be touched.”
A rumbling sound sounded and when it stopped, a smile appeared on Lyan’s stone face, “I was not wrong about you,” he said; then his eyes dimmed down, the torches extinguished and a path opened behind his statue.
What was that question about? And what did he mean by saying ‘I was not wrong about you?’
I thought as I walked into the opened exit. Entering it, I once again found myself in a corridor and I walked down it. This corridor
like the corridor from before had torches every 5-yards and every time I passed by the torches they would light up.
After
passing more than 300 torches, I walked out into a medium sized room. This room was identical to the room from before, and in the middle of the room stood two torches, but instead of a single statue, there were four of them. One of a male dwarf with a long beard and a full head of hair, wearing full leather armour and with a bow on his back. One of a bear standing from the dwarf’s left, other of a tiger standing from the dwarf’s right, and the last of an eagle, sitting on the dwarf’s right shoulder.
That’s a beastmaster,
I thought and I walked up to the statue. Two torches lit up; then the eyes of the dwarf’s statue lit up and began shining in a golden glow. A status bar appeared above the statue’s head.
<Hektor, Level 100>
<HP:5,120,000/5,120,000>
Hektor moved his stone eyes and a rumbling sound sounded, and It only stopped when he had his eyes on me. A rumbling sound sounded again and when it stopped, a gentle expression could be seen on his stone face, “You have made the right decision, adventurer. If you had chosen the other answer, you would have been talking to Jasper right now. And at that time the only choice you could make was to accept his inheritance.”
I furrowed my eyebrows, “What do you mean by that. Why would my only choice have been to accept his inheritance if I had chosen the other answer? Aren’t there five more of you?”
A rumbling sound sounded and a serious expression appeared on Hektor’s face, “That is correct, there are five more of us, and if you choose to pass on my inheritance I will test you. And if you pass the test, you will meet Nara. But you wouldn’t have had that choice, if in front of you stood Jasper instead of me. You see, our leader has banished Jasper from our group, but that said he still has a place in the inheritance grounds. As after all he still is a legendary hero.”
I slowly nodded my head in understanding, “I see.”
“So what will it be, adventurer. Will you accept my inheritance and become a beastmaster or will you decline it?” Hektor said.
Like the gladiator class, beastmaster class is a good class of a neutral alignment… But I am not good with animals, I only had one cat, and it ran away from me,
I thought and said, “I decline.”
“Very well, as per Nara’s instructions your test is to answer this question, there are two cities. In one live a hundred people and in the other – a thousand. Monsters are attacking both cities. You have time to save only one city. What do you do?” Hektor said.
