Isla, Sylveria, and Isao were in their large room at the highest tower of Arcane Academy.
"What the heck, Isla!? Why are you just sitting there eating cake instead of helping!?" Isao complained while busy making sushi. Sylveria, meanwhile, was calmly preparing tea. "And Sylv! Why tea!? It's New Year's Eve! We should be having soda, not tea, you overly elegant princess!" Isao exclaimed in frustration.
Sylveria carefully poured hot water over tea leaves into three cups, her movements graceful and deliberate. The steam rose, carrying the rich aroma of the brew. Turning to her friends with her calm, doll-like features, she spoke.
"You know I can't stand the overly sweet taste of soda." she said with a soft smile, her voice smooth and amused. She lifted a teacup and held it out for Isla to catch the scent before setting it back down. The tea leaves swirled elegantly in the cup, catching the moonlight streaming through the window. Adding honey with a silver spoon, Sylveria continued her calm routine, the warmth from the teapot radiating softly against her.
"Isao... sushi." Isla said plainly. Before Isao could respond, Isla grabbed all the sushi and returned to her seat, eating it with her usual stoic expression. Sylveria giggled softly, sipping her tea as colorful fireworks lit up the sky outside their window.
"Ugh, I have no idea how the three of us get along." Isao muttered, slipping back into her elegant pink kimono before sitting beside her friends. Isla, in her pure white robes, Sylveria in a light blue dress, and Isao in her kimono, sat together, watching the fireworks as they welcomed the new year.
The warm glow of the fireplace blended with the soft bursts of fireworks outside, creating a cozy atmosphere in the room. The flickering flames highlighted Isao's features as she sighed, her kimono sleeve slipping slightly to reveal a glimpse of her pale skin. Leaning back, Isao crossed her legs, her kimono's fabric softly outlining her form. A mischievous sparkle lit up her black eyes as she glanced at Isla, who remained focused on finishing the sushi with calm determination. "Come on, Isla," Isao teased with a playful tone. "Can't you at least share a smile with us to welcome the new year? Or perhaps, something more entertaining?"
Isla set down her sushi and gave Sylveria and Isao a rare, genuine smile. "You're right." she said softly, leaving both friends stunned. Isla's smile, fleeting like the wind, vanished almost immediately, her face returning to its usual aloof expression as she turned back to the fireworks. "Beautiful..." she murmured, her gaze fixed on the vibrant display.
"It really is," Sylveria said softly as she touched Isla's shoulder gently. "A perfect way to welcome a new beginning, wouldn't you agree?" The touch lingered briefly, causing Isla to tense slightly, though she didn't pull away. Sylveria's fingers brushed the embroidery of Isla's robe, the delicate gesture almost unnoticed but carrying a subtle weight. Outside, the fireworks lit up the night, their brilliance mirrored by the quiet, unspoken connection between the three friends.
"Isao, Sylveria... let's stay together forever." Isla said softly, her gaze fixed on the fireworks. The unexpected words caught the other two off guard. Sylveria liked the sentiment but knew deep down that their paths might someday diverge. "Oh, I have an idea!" Isao said with a playful grin, throwing an arm around both Isla and Sylveria. "Why don't we all marry the same person? That way, we can always stay together!"
"I don't mind." Isla replied without hesitation; her expression as calm as ever. Sylveria's composed demeanor shattered as her face turned crimson. "W-What!? No way! Why are you two so calm about this?"
Isao burst into laughter, while Isla remained as stoic as ever, her words lingering in the air like a quiet promise as their gaze shifts back to the beautiful fireworks in the night sky.
