Chapter 11 - Chapter 70 The Great Noble Family Of Solaris

Amon is part of the Solaris family and a distant relative of Gundrik, being the son of his third cousin. Gundrik, the head of the Solaris main family, is also a close friend of Lancelot.

Gundrik married late, in his 40s, to Lady Arabella, a young noblewoman and former Saint of Aetherlight. She fell in love with him after he saved her from bandits. Since Gundrik disliked a lavish lifestyle, they agreed to live separately, especially after he retired as a General. He visited her occasionally at their mansion but preferred a simpler life. While Arabella and their daughters managed the family’s wealth, Gundrik focused on earning his own money by founding the Heroic Tavern, which became a great success in Aetherlight.

Sunshine inherited both healing and support magic from her mother, along with the defensive and offensive abilities granted to the Solaris bloodline by the Sun God. Unlike the Lunastra family, who are direct descendants of the Moon Goddess, the Solaris were simply blessed for their righteousness. As a mark of this favor, the Sun God bestowed Solar Edge, a powerful Spirit Weapon passed down through generations. Gundrik wielded it before eventually passing it on to Sunshine.

Most generals dismissed Solar Edge as just another artifact, unaware of the true power of Spirit Weapons. Only Eclipse understood their origins, having obtained Celestial Radiance from the western continent, where all Spirit Weapons originated—except for Mixarnt’s Enigma, which was uniquely crafted by Xarnt.

Sunshine stepped into the Solaris Mansion, her usual stern expression softened by the faintest hint of a smile. Her mother, Lady Arabella, greeted her with a warm, gentle smile as she entered. "Oh, Sun, you’re home," Arabella said, her voice as soothing as ever. Sunshine had always admired her mother’s grace, beauty, and kindness, traits she felt she hadn’t quite inherited. While Sunshine had her mother’s striking looks, her personality was more akin to her father’s—bold, strong-willed, and sometimes hot-headed. Still, her strict demeanor was largely shaped by her role as a General of the kingdom, a duty she took very seriously.

"You look happy, dear. Did something happen?" Arabella asked, her eyes twinkling with curiosity as she noticed her daughter’s unusual demeanor. Sunshine was humming softly, a rare sight for someone who usually came home with a tired or serious expression. Today, however, she seemed lighter, almost like a lovesick girl.

Sunshine blinked, caught off guard by her mother’s observation. "H-happy? What are you talking about, Mother? I’m just... in a good mood, that’s all," she said, her cheeks tinged with pink as she tried to brush off the comment.

Arabella’s smile turned teasing, her eyes narrowing playfully. "Oh? A good mood, you say? This wouldn’t have anything to do with a certain boy, would it?"

Sunshine’s face turned even redder, and she quickly looked away. "W-what? No! Of course not! I’m just... relieved that the first trial of the Aether Knight Exam went smoothly. That’s all."

Arabella chuckled softly, clearly not buying her daughter’s flustered explanation. "If you say so, dear. But you know, it’s okay to let your guard down sometimes. You don’t always have to be the strict General Sunshine. You’re allowed to be happy, too."

Sunshine sighed, her shoulders relaxing slightly. "I know, Mother. It’s just... hard. Father always told me to loosen up, but I don’t want to end up like him—always so carefree and casual, even when he was a General. I have to set an example for my men."

Arabella’s expression softened, and she reached out to gently pat Sunshine’s cheek. "Your father may have been carefree, but he was also one of the most respected Generals in the kingdom. His men loved him because he treated them like family, not just soldiers. There’s a balance, Sun. You can be strong and disciplined without losing your humanity."

Sunshine hesitated, her mother’s words sinking in. She had always seen her father’s relaxed demeanor as a weakness, but perhaps there was more to it than she had realized. Still, the thought of letting her guard down, especially after what had happened earlier with Mixarnt, made her feel vulnerable in a way she wasn’t used to.

"I’ll... think about it," Sunshine said finally, her voice quieter than usual.

Arabella smiled, her eyes filled with warmth. "That’s all I ask, dear. Now, why don’t you tell me more about this ‘good mood’ of yours? I’m sure it’s a fascinating story."

Sunshine groaned, her face flushing again. "Mother, please..."

But Arabella just laughed, her gentle teasing filling the room with warmth. For the first time in a long while, Sunshine felt a sense of comfort and belonging. She thought that maybe it was okay to let her walls down a little—especially around the people who loved her most. And as she sat down with her mother, sharing stories and laughter, she couldn’t help but feel a little lighter, a little freer.

'Maybe being General didn’t mean that I had to be serious all the time. Maybe there was room for a little happiness too.' The thought lingered in her mind
