On the fifth day, Mixarnt woke up, feeling strangely refreshed.
There was no soreness, no muscle pain—just an overwhelming sense of lightness.
"I feel... so light," he murmured, flexing his fingers as he stared at his hands.
He turned to his right, his eyes widened in surprise. Moonlight was there.
"Good morning," she greeted him with a gentle smile.
Mixarnt's heart wasn't ready to see her first thing after waking up.
"O-Oh! M-Moon! Haha… w-what are you doing here?" he stammered, looking away, his face turning red like a tomato.
Moonlight giggled at his reaction. Then, without warning, she stood up and wrapped her arms around him, pulling his head to rest against her chest.
His face burned hotter.
"Thank you..." Moonlight whispered.
A heartfelt, sincere gratitude.
As soon as she spoke, Mixarnt's blush softened into a smile. He remembered—if he hadn’t won, Moonlight would have been forced to leave the guild.
And now, seeing her happy smile, knowing she was still here... that was all that mattered.
He closed his eyes, relaxing into the warmth of her embrace.
He was content.
He was at peace.
"Moon, we are—ACK! Mixarnt! You're awake!"
A loud voice interrupted the moment.
Mixarnt barely had time to react before Sunshine stormed into the room, her expression shifting from shock to irritation in an instant.
"Wait… Hey! Didn't we talk about this?! You were supposed to tell me the moment he woke up!" Sunshine glared at Moonlight.
Moonlight simply looked at her with a mischievous smile.
"He just woke up a few seconds ago," she replied calmly, as if she hadn't been holding him for much longer than that.
Sunshine narrowed her eyes, clearly annoyed.
"Hey, brat. Is that true?" she demanded as she approached.
Before Mixarnt could answer, she pinched his cheek hard, pulling him away from Moonlight.
Just moments ago, he had been blissfully resting on Moon’s chest. Now, he found himself staring at Sunshine’s annoyed and angry face.
"G-General! O-oh, yeah, I just woke up!" Mixarnt stammered, his voice shaky.
The heavy aura of Sunshine’s irritation made him break into a nervous sweat.
But then, to his surprise—
She pulled him into a tight embrace.
"I was worried, you idiot." She was wearing light armor and no chest plate, so his face is buried in her luscious mounds.
Her voice was quieter now, softer.
"I watched your match. I was so proud of what you accomplished… but you were asleep for five days."
A pause.
"I thought I lost you."
Mixarnt couldn’t see her face, but he could hear the emotion in her voice. It was rare to see General Sunshine show any vulnerability.
And yet, here she was, holding onto him like she never wanted to let go.
He glanced over at Moonlight, who smiled at him sweetly—but there was an undeniable challenge in her gaze.
As if asserting her dominance.
Moonlight then pulled Mixarnt back toward her, wrapping her arms around his arm.
Not to be outdone, Sunshine did the same.
A palpable tension filled the room.
"Let's have dinner later, Mixarnt," Moonlight said, giggling.
"Yeah, let's have dinner—just the TWO of us, Mixarnt," Sunshine added, pointedly glaring at Moonlight.
Moonlight kept her calm, elegant smile, but her irritation was obvious.
"I asked first, General Sunshine," she said, her voice deceptively sweet.
"Fufufu, just so you know, I already booked seats for me and Mixarnt," Sunshine shot back smugly.
The tension in the air grew thicker.
Mixarnt, feeling like a deer caught between two predators, desperately searched for an escape.
Then—he found it.
"Haha… er, sorry, but I might have to pass on the invitation," he said quickly.
Both women immediately looked disappointed.
"Rosalind invited me to her house before I passed out," he explained. "She said she had something for me."
He smiled casually, hoping it would ease the tension.
It didn’t.
Moonlight and Sunshine both stared at him, clearly unsatisfied.
But at least, for now, he had avoided an all-out war.
However, Mixarnt’s attempt to ease the tension only seemed to make things worse (For him). Both Moonlight and Sunshine turned their intense gazes toward him, their expressions a mix of disappointment and mild irritation. The air in the room grew heavier as the two women exchanged sharp glances, their rivalry palpable.
Moonlight, ever the picture of calm elegance, smiled gently but her eyes held a subtle challenge. "Oh? Rosalind invited you? How... thoughtful of her," she said, her tone sweet but laced with a hint of sarcasm. She tightened her grip on Mixarnt’s arm, her smile never wavering. "But surely, you can spare some time for dinner with me afterward, right? After all, I’ve been taking care of you while you were asleep."
Sunshine, on the other hand, wasn’t as subtle. Her golden flame eyes flickered with annoyance as she glared at Moonlight. "Taking care of him? I was the one who healed him after the battle! If anyone deserves to have dinner with him, it’s me!" she declared, her voice rising slightly. She pulled Mixarnt closer to her side, her grip firm. "Besides, I already booked seats for us. You can’t just swoop in and take him, Moonlight."
Moonlight’s smile remained serene, but her eyes narrowed slightly. "General Sunshine, I believe I asked first. And as his... CLOSE friend, I think it’s only fair that I get to spend some time with him after everything he’s been through."
Sunshine’s cheeks flushed with frustration. "Close friend? Is that what we’re calling it now? Don’t think I didn’t notice how cozy you two were just now!"
Mixarnt, caught in the middle of their escalating argument, felt like he was standing in the eye of a storm. His face was red, and he was sweating nervously as he tried to think of a way to defuse the situation. "Uh... ladies, I mean, General Sunshine, Moon... I really appreciate the invitations, but I think I should probably focus on recovering first. And, uh, Rosalind did say it was important..."
Moonlight and Sunshine both turned their heads sharply toward him again, their expressions softening slightly but still intense. "Recovering? You look perfectly fine to me," Sunshine said, her tone skeptical.
Moonlight nodded in agreement, though her smile was still gentle. "Yes, Mixarnt. You’ve been resting for five days. A little dinner won’t hurt. Besides, I’m sure Rosalind can wait."
Mixarnt scratched the back of his head, his grin nervous. "Well, uh, I guess... but I really don’t want to upset anyone..."
Sunshine sighed, her frustration giving way to a more resigned expression. "Fine. If you’re really that worried about upsetting us, why don’t we all have dinner together? That way, no one feels left out."
Moonlight raised an eyebrow, her smile turning slightly mischievous. "Together? With you? I don’t recall inviting you, General Sunshine."
Sunshine’s eye twitched, her patience wearing thin. "Oh, come on, Moonlight! Don’t be so possessive! Mixarnt’s not your personal property!"
Mixarnt, sensing that the argument was about to escalate again, quickly interjected. "Uh, you know what? Maybe I should just... go see Rosalind first and figure out what she needs. Then we can all have dinner together later? How does that sound?"
Both women paused, considering his suggestion. Moonlight’s smile returned, though it was still tinged with mischief. "I suppose that could work. But don’t think this means I’m letting you off the hook, Mixarnt."
Sunshine crossed her arms, her golden flame eyes still flickering with annoyance. "Fine. But if you’re late, I’m dragging you out of there myself."
Mixarnt let out a nervous laugh, relieved that the tension had eased—at least for now. "Got it. I’ll be quick, I promise."
As Moonlight and Sunshine continued to exchange subtle glares, Mixarnt quickly slipped out of the room, muttering to himself, "Why does this keep happening to me...?"
Once outside, he took a deep breath, grateful for the temporary reprieve. But as he made his way to Rosalind’s house, he couldn’t shake the feeling that his troubles were far from over. Dinner with Moonlight and Sunshine? That was going to be an adventure in itself.
