Watching Selene disappear into the depths of the dragon cave, Witter stood up without a word and walked towards the nearby cave wall.
Upon closer inspection, one would notice that his limbs were trembling slightly!
Indeed!
Witter was injured!
Fortunately, it wasn't severe—just a muscle strain. As a newly hatched dragon, even though he seemed to have inherited his father's formidable physical strength, the sudden exertion had taken its toll.
But he endured it all!
Because he couldn't afford to lose, nor would he allow himself to. While others might not know, he was well aware that his original plan was to take on all four of them!
However, the outcome was that a single Selene nearly left him helpless!
The disparity between his ideals and reality left Witter feeling both frustrated and determined. At the very least, he couldn't afford to lose so disgracefully!
But what he didn't anticipate was that Selene had less stamina than he had imagined.
If Selene's stamina had been on par with his, Witter would have been the one to lose!
Thinking this, Witter lay down by the cave wall, spreading his dragon wings to cover himself.
Seeing Witter like this, the other three young dragons, who had intended to approach and ease the tension, exchanged glances and decided to follow Selene deeper into the cave.
Although they had inherited memories, they were still young and wouldn't be too forward if others didn't acknowledge them.
In fact, even though Witter hid beneath his wings, he could still observe through the gaps. He was somewhat relieved when the other three decided not to approach, but also felt a slight surge of happiness when they initially considered it.
After they left, Witter's golden eyes dimmed a bit. Yet, holding onto his dragon pride, he remained silent, watching them leave before closing his eyes and letting out a cold, mocking laugh.
Perhaps this made him feel a bit better!
With his eyes closed, Witter didn't notice that with each breath, the fire elements in the surrounding air began to gather around him, seeping into his body.
He could feel the pain in his limbs, which had been aching with a tearing sensation, start to subside slightly.
Time passed slowly, and Witter's breathing grew heavier.
After he fell asleep, the gathering of fire elements around him intensified.
He didn't know how much time had passed when his wings suddenly trembled and slowly opened. Witter stood up, his eyes still drowsy, and stretched his limbs.
"Doesn't hurt anymore!" he muttered quietly, trying to jump and feeling a surge of surprise.
Not only was the pain gone, but he also felt his strength had increased slightly. It wasn't much, but for a newborn dragon, it was quite noticeable!
Witter was briefly pleased with his newfound strength before he couldn't help but glance deeper into the dragon cave.
"Humph!" he snorted, forcing himself to look away.
Then, he looked back at his wings.
Witter knew that without magical assistance, if he didn't change, he would keep experiencing battles like the one before!
Determined, Witter walked to the center of the passage and began to flap his wings, not to fly, but to exercise them.
At first, it was easy, but as time went on, his wings grew heavier, and his back began to ache.
Still, he didn't stop, gritting his teeth and continuing to flap his wings.
If it's a weakness, then train it until it's strong enough to no longer be a weakness!
Moreover, he had promised his father to find him in the stars!
If he couldn't even fly, how could he reach the stars?
Thinking of this, Witter's gaze became even more resolute.
...
A pair of creamy white wings trembled and spread open!
Selene yawned, her tail lashing the air, creating gusts of wind.
After a good sleep, her energy from the battle had been restored. Glancing at her stomach, Selene felt a pang of hunger.
Looking around, she noticed that only Billy and the others were in the cave with her, and Witter was nowhere to be seen.
At that moment, her ears perked up, catching the sound of heavy breathing from the passage outside the cave.
Pausing for a moment, Selene approached the entrance and saw Witter, flapping his wings but unable to take flight.
"Is your wing injured?" she asked, a hint of anxiety in her voice.
Hearing the sudden concern, Witter turned to see Selene flying towards him, her claws reaching out to inspect his wings.
Reacting, Witter quickly retracted his wings and looked at Selene warily.
Seeing this, Selene hurriedly said, "Don't move around recklessly. For someone without magical affinity like you, your wings are crucial. If they're injured, you might never fly again!"
Hearing this, Witter was taken aback and then looked at Selene strangely.
"Are you... concerned about me?" he asked.
The question left Selene momentarily stunned. She raised her head haughtily and looked down at Witter.
"You are an opponent I acknowledge. If you let avoidable injuries affect your combat strength, I would be very disappointed!"
Witter stared at Selene, then looked away and lay back down.
"Rest assured, I won't make such a low-level mistake!" he replied.
Hearing this, Selene looked puzzled at Witter's slightly trembling wings.
"What are you doing then?" she asked.
Witter replied indifferently, "Nothing, just realizing that my wings have become a glaring weakness, so I'm training them to overcome this flaw!"
"Training?" Selene echoed, a look of confusion crossing her face.
Noticing her confusion, Witter asked curiously, "You don't know what training means?"
"Of course I do, but we are great dragons; we don't need to train. Each time we sleep and awaken, it signifies a transformation of strength. If anything, sleeping is our way of training! It seems your inherited memories didn't include this," Selene explained.
Hearing this, Witter recalled that his previous injuries had healed during sleep, and his strength had increased as a result.
But then, his gaze hardened again.
"Too slow!" he muttered.
