In a farm in the middle of nowhere.
Shu Himo found himself transported inside a barn. His body was that of a cow.
"Muu! (What the heck?!)" As he was a cow, he could only speak like a cow. Shu Himo's language became the same as ordinary cows, so making a conversation with the butcher was impossible.
The barn was the synonym of stink and filth, mostly due to the numerous black objects blending on the ground. If Shu Himo did not know beforehand that the butcher was alive from the quest message he would’ve thought it was an abandoned farm.
Resisting the urge to throw up, Shu Himo looked around and noticed that he was in a really small cell. He had barely 2x2 meters of space to move. He then gazed at the sky and saw the black view of the night. I suppose it should be from around 10 pm to 2 am… if the butcher wakes up early it would mean I have just a few hours to run… I guess there is no choice.
System, Help!
[The System will not give any support for the First Quest.]
Tch... Bringing me here all of a sudden and acting like that… very well! I will show you how I will escape!
[Good luck.]
The moment he heard the system’s message Shu Himo felt a sudden pain in his stomach, which almost made him curse at the system. Only when he noticed a big ball of hay on the side did he notice that what he was feeling was hunger.
Maybe the hay was a gift from the butcher to the cow for its last day, Shu Himo thought.
He felt reluctant to eat hay, but he knew to not have another choice as feeling hunger may lower his survival chance.
It was after 10 minutes of eating that he finally felt full, so he commenced wandering around (in his 2x2 cell) to find anything he could use to break out from there. He soon noticed that every cow was locked by a conventional gate lock. The discovery granted him some confidence in escaping, as such lock was easy to open.
With a plan in hand— rather, in hooves, Shu Himo decided to escape from the cell. He moved his leg to open the lock… until he found out that he couldn't reach it.
Only at that moment did he notice...
He was an overweight cow!
No wonder the butcher was about to kill this cow! Shu Himo thought grudgingly.
He felt powerless, close to giving up, but as he recalled the opportunity to reach a cultivation world by completing the quest, his eyes lit up once again. He decided to loosen the lock by licking it!
Using his tongue, he slowly raised the bar and gradually pulled it, and in but a second the lock was unlocked. Adding promptly a small headbutt, the small gate was opened.
“Muu! (Hurray!)” For the first time in his life he felt the joy of being free, at least until he walked toward the exit only to discover an iron door. His joy was killed as fast as it came.
“MU! (F*ck!)” He stomped his hoof on the ground, feeling vexed. He had to find a way to escape, or he would lose his only chance to reincarnate in a world he could only dream of!
How could he allow himself to lose such a chance?
After quickly calming down he examined the iron door, but unlike the earlier gate lock the iron door possessed a proper lock, impossible to open without a key. He knew that at that point he had no way to avoid a confrontation against the butcher, but he alone had no way to win.
At that moment he was in a 4 meters wide passage with over 20 meters of length. Confirming this fact made him think of a plan.
With this much space… it should be possible to find assistance! If possible he did not want to resort to it, but this time he had no choice but to be ruthless!
Made his decision, he walked up to a cow with a resolute gaze. “Muuu? (Hi, do you want to escape with me?)”
Anticipating an affirmative answer Shu Himo was about to talk about his plan when he heard the answer. “Mu? (Why? No thanks, I feel fine here.)”
Are you an idiot?! Shu Himo barely resisted his urge to scream at the cow. In a few days he will just butcher you!
Trying to desist from killing the cow in a fit of rage, Shu Himo reflected on how to convince the cows to rebel against the butcher.
If she react like that there is a high chance that she doesn’t know what happens after they get brought out of here… Maybe if I explain the situation they will change idea and go crazy on the butcher!
He looked around and found a couple of chair around a table made of metal. The sight reminded him of certain anime scenes that he saw, which made his blood begin to boil out of excitement.
Forcing his fat body on top of the table by using chairs as stairs, he prepared himself for the greatest speech he ever did… or well, the only he ever did.
He first stared at the sky with a profound gaze, as if he were an old expert who just came back to Earth, and then turned to look at the cows as if they were his followers. He gathered air in his lungs until he felt to explode, and then, released all of it with a yell. “MUUUUU! (ATTENTION EVERYONE!)”
His thunderous yell was so loud that not only every cow turned toward him in shock, but even the butcher in the house almost woke up as if he had to defend from an enemy attack.
Proud of the attention he received, Shu Himo considered which words to use and then commenced his speech.
“Muu! (Until now, very often some of the cows disappear after they get led outside by the human, and where do you think they went? In his belly!)
“Moo! (After tricking us into believing that we were simply changing our living place they dared to kill our companions and eat them behind our back!)
“Mouu! (Are you going to keep doing nothing and simply wait for them to kill you? Let’s work together and stop this oppression! Are you only alive to become their food? Or do you wish to be free to wander outside?)
“Mooo! (You don’t want to stay here, do you? Let’s escape tonight! We will show to that human that he is not who commands, as we are the only ones that can command ourselves!)”
Shu Himo stomped on the table, breaking it. He fell on the ground but he did not stop from yelling freedom messages toward the cows.
The expression of the cows was first of disbelief, but it gradually changed into pure hot-bloodedness, ready to fight for their own freedom and the one of their comrades.
Noticing their reaction, Shu Himo did not waste his momentum and proceeded to deal the lethal blow.
“Mooo! (Follow me! I will free you from your cells, and once that human dares to open the door we will attack him together! We will then run away from here, and at that moment we will finally be free! Let’s do this, to reattain our once lost freedom!)”
Satisfied with his speech, Shu Himo opened all the cells to free to cows and awaited with them the moment the butcher would walk inside.
