Chapter 11 - Sky Weapon Shop - [C11]

[Welcome to the Sky Weapon Shop!]

Surrounded by what he deemed a seemingly endless museum, Shu Himo felt overwhelmed.

The walls and ceiling were missing, replaced by an endless black void. The only things that could be seen were a white floor that extended to the horizon and countless one meter high white pillars. Ancient runes were engraved onto the pillars, seemingly resounding with a unique weapon placed on top of them. Spaced out at ten meters intervals from each other, the pillars were divided only by a few dummies found amid them.

Just as he was about to sigh in awe, a melody came in his ears. His expression darkened. From his previous impression of a majestic museum, he felt as if he were in a random blue roofed store to buy some gadgets to catch new creatures.

“System… just why?”

[What?]

“...Nothing.” Noticing that the system was oblivious to the problem, Shu Himo lost the will to complain. He walked close to a weapon with a dispirited expression. The previous awe-inspiring mood of the place was totally ruined.

[The User can take and test any weapon on the dummies. Once the User took his decision, inform the system to return back with the weapon in hand.]

“This is… an enormous battle-axe!” Staring at the massive weapon in front of him, Shu Himo’s eyes lit up once again.

A handle over two meters long and a head capable of splitting an adult body in two. A golden phoenix pattern spread across the battle-axe’s head, in contrast with the weapon’s silvery colour.

Shu Himo immediately tried to grab it, only to fail. No matter how he pulled it, the axe wouldn’t move. “System, didn’t you say that I was free to try them? How come it doesn’t move?”

[(Mid-grade Sky Weapon) Dear Splitter]

[A 500kg heavy battle-axe. Capable to crush any weapon under sky quality just with its pure weight.]

[Passive ability: [Heaviness].]

[Value: 670 BS points.]

“Oh… it’s too heavy.” He felt a bit embarrassed by his previous reaction. It was at that moment that he noticed the existence of a passive ability. “Weapons can have passive abilities?”

[A sky quality weapon and above hold a high chance to obtain a passive ability.]

“I see...” Giving up on the axe, Shu Himo walked toward another pillar.

“Two daggers? A pair?” The two daggers did not seem to have anything special. Appearing as regular daggers, they had no presence at all when compared to the other weapons.

Although they seemed average, Shu Himo decided to test them anyway. He didn't even consider that a weapon in such a place could be normal. He grabbed them and slashed toward a dummy. The result was unexpected.

[(High-grade Sky Weapon) Des & Das]

[Forged with the purpose of appearing just as ordinary daggers, Des & Das are perfect for assassination purposes.]

[Passive ability: [Extra-sharpness].]

[Value: 890 BS points]

“System… I just cut the head off, you’re not going to make me pay for it, right?”

[Everything in this realm will auto-regenerate. Look, the head is already back.]

“I see.” Sighing in relief, Shu Himo placed back the two daggers. “While they are indeed good weapons, their appearance seems too ordinary. A real weapon should induce fear and despair to the opponent, even just by its sight!”

Shu Himo then checked over a hundred weapons, but none managed to convince him. Every single weapon had a value of over 500 BS points, so how could Shu Himo, who had just 3 points, decide between all of them?

As if he were a commoner who could freely choose a single peerless cultivation technique between many, he spent various hours trying to find the best weapon.

[(Mid-grade Sky Weapon) Flasher]

[A lightning element sword. It is said that once it reaches a certain speed, anyone would only be able to see a clap of thunder in its place.]

[Passive ability: [Extra-speed].]

[Value: 780 BS points.]

[(Mid-grade Sky Weapon) Shats]

[A bow that produces a peculiar sound. Legend says that any enemy who hears it will perish in but a single moment.]

[Passive ability: [Perfect aim].]

[Value: 780 BS points.]

[(High-grade Sky Weapon) Sashis]

[A golden saber that tasted millions of lives. Whoever uses it is destined to cause bloodshed.]

[Value: 970 BS points.]

Already 5 hours had passed from when Shu Himo entered in the shop, but he still failed to find anything which left him satisfied enough to part with the “free weapon charge”.

It was at that moment that he noticed a pillar unlike the others, for it was entirely black. Contrary to the orderly arrangement of normal pillars, the black pillar was isolated from the rest. It was nothing but empty space for what seemed like half a kilometer, with only a black, corrupted floor expanding beneath it.

Shu Himo tried to walk towards it, when he felt a grip squeeze his heart. Deep terror clouded his mind. He froze, unable to step forward. He couldn't shift his sight anymore. His attention was seized by what was in front of him.

Bound by countless chains impaled to the floor, a crescent moon blade extended for a meter and a half until reaching a sharp tip. Few obscure runes covered the edge. The opposite side of the blade extended barely twenty centimeters, ending in three curved tips seeming ready to rip anything to shreds. Connecting the two sides, the slightly curved metallic handle was piercing the pillar as if defying the system's authority itself.

The whole weapon was deep black, a colour reminiscent of the void.

In the intersection of the three parts, a red dragon eye seemed to watch over everything, ready to dictate life and death of reality itself. Gifting helplessness and horror just by its sight, the dragon eye commanded everything to submit and plead mercy.

The weapon appeared slightly blurry, surrounded by a dark atmosphere extruding madness. Only someone insane would ever consider walking close to it.

Staring at the weapon, Shu Himo's mouth grew into a grin. "A scythe! God of death! Grim Reaper! This is what a true weapon should be!" His eyes lit up as his excitement rose uncontrollably.

[Is the User attempting to die? That scythe is a cursed weapon, even its touch would force all but the strongest will to yield before insanity. What would remain is a being overwhelmed by hatred and despair, a mere killing machine that aims to annihilate everything.]

The system’s words startled him. Was it the incoming of the typical rebelling weapon that most main characters have? I must get it! Vowing to himself, Shu Himo then voiced his curiosity. “System, can you show me the status of that weapon?”

[(High-grade growth Sky Weapon) The Scythe of Doom (Locked)]

[Forged using an indestructible metal by a divine blacksmith, the scythe was devised as a seal to confine the will of the Wicked King Dragon, an existence of the ??? realm.

Legend says that if the weapon were to reach its highest potential a single slash from it would be able to warp space itself.]

[Unlock condition: Defeat the remaining will of the Wicked King Dragon.]

[Passive abilities: [Fear lv_5], [Bloodlust], [loc/ked].]

[Value: 17000 BS points(At the current stage).]

[Weapon growth requirement: Reap the lives of 10 worthy enemies. 0/10]

Shu Himo smirked. "I knew it, what kind of weapon shop would not even have a cursed weapon? System, I will take this one!"

[...Very well. Since this is a special situation, the system will create a suited quest. The User will be able to decide whether to accept it or not.]

[Special quest: Tame the Scythe of Doom! (Revenge special!)]

[This scythe killed 3 previous hosts. Tame it to free their spirits!]

[Quest Difficulty: S-]

[Quest Reward: 30 BS points.]

[Quest Failure Penalty: Your soul will be imprisoned in the scythe eternally.]

“Three previous hosts? Eternal imprisoning?” In front of such risks, the seed of doubt swept within his mind, causing him to waver for a moment. However, he suddenly remembered one of his rules. The sixth rule of the MC Way: Never have fear of anything!

His lips grew into a resolute smile as he waved his hand. “System! I shall take your quest!”

All the while, the happy melody reminiscent of a blue-roofed store kept playing in the background.

Hi everyone! I apologize for the slow release rate of the chapters, the problem is that I'm having difficulties at controlling my perfectionism tendencies. If I feel that a sentence sounds even a bit wrong I'll be stuck at it until I manage to solve the issue(which may take multiple hours), slowing down my writing speed exponentially. While it is true that such behavior will raise the writing quality, it also means that it will slow the writing speed a lot. However, I will do my best to hasten it as much as possible! Thanks for reading!
