Chapter 128 - Cheeks

“I promised myself I wouldn't lie to you ever again, so yes, it's true. You can ask me anything.”

Janus said nothing for a while as he mulled it all over in his head once again before asking,

“Is there anything special you can do? Like, do you have special powers or anything?”

In the old stories, demons could slip through shadows, vanish from sight, or whisper their way into people's thoughts. There were tales of bloodsuckers, the kind that made me think of vampires, and of succubi and sirens who lured men away to steal the very breath from their lips. It sounds strange, but for a demon who needs vitality or mana just to keep existing, it made sense. Sometimes I wonder if, had my own longing been just a little weaker, I might have ended up as one of those monsters, hunting for scraps of desire in the dark.

“No, not really. In the beginning, I thought I had the ability to shape shift, but that was just healing magic. Why are you asking?”

“I just wonder why anyone would do this. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy you did; after all, if you hadn't become a demon, I would never have met you. It just sounds too risky. Why would you gamble with your very existence just to be reborn? Not to mention that you did this just to be a regular healing mage, your words, not mine.”

“Well, I had a wish, a desire you could say, and if I had given up my memories, that desire would vanish too. And I… didn't want that.”

“What desire?”

“Sigh… to fall in love…”

Janus stared at me, his eyes wide with disbelief, and for a moment I thought he might laugh. But then a shy, crooked smile tugged at his lips, the kind that looked like it might never leave.

“I know it sounds foolish, and it was, but I have never been in love until… now. I always felt different because I couldn't fall in love. I thought with such a bad track record, it would take ages to find someone I like, even with this face and body. So I was very surprised and honestly way too stubborn about finding out that I loved you, some guy I met on my first day in this world.”

“Some guy?”

“Urgh, shut up, I'm bad at this, this is already embarrassing enough.”

I buried myself in one of the oversized feather pillows, hoping it would swallow up my burning cheeks. Somehow, I felt even more exposed than I had on our wedding night, and Janus's smug grin only made the heat in my face worse.

"Hehe, cute.”

“Urgh, stop it.”

For a heartbeat, I thought he might finally let me hide, but then the mattress dipped beside me, and his warmth closed in—closer than ever. My face was buried, wishing to disappear, but his lips found the shell of my ear, already burning and exposed among the scattered flowers of the pillowcase. I tried to hold my ground, but he was relentless, his mouth drifting to my other ear, then lower, his breath tantalizing against my skin, as if determined to unravel me with anticipation, not just embarrassment.

A shiver ran through me as I realized where this was going. Since the babies arrived, Janus and I had barely touched—just a kiss here, a gentle word there, but nothing more. People would probably assume I was the one holding back, but it was Janus who always turned away, feigning sleep whenever I reached for him. I was more than a little desperate by now, so I stayed perfectly still, afraid that if I moved too quickly, he might vanish like a startled fawn at the slightest sound.

So I lay there, breath caught, every nerve strung impossibly tight as Janus slid my underwear down with tantalizing slowness. The heat of his body pressed up against me, his touch hot, leaving a trail of fire where his lips and hands roamed. Something slick and eager nudged at the hollow of my hips, his teasing strokes maddeningly slow, sending sparks through my trembling body. The weight of him, the roughness of his hair brushing my skin, made me arch closer, desperate for more.

The sheets beneath me grew damp with longing as I clung to the pillow, my breath growing ragged with every slow, torturous motion. He made me wait, savoring the ache, until I was trembling—nearly begging. At last, his hands found me, parting me with exquisite care, searching out the place where our bodies would finally join. When he pressed inside, it was effortless—like yielding to a tide—and the sensation sent electric shivers up my spine, flooding every nerve with aching pleasure.

I nearly lost myself with the very first thrust, biting down on the pillow to stifle the cries building in my throat. Janus drew back, only to drive into me again, each stroke sending waves of dizzy, devastating pleasure through my body—enough to scatter every thought. The room filled with the slick, rhythmic sounds of our need, his hands pinning my wrists as he pressed me deeper into the mattress, over and over, until I couldn't remember how many times I had come undone. My insides and folds clung to him, my body refusing to let go, desperate for every last bit of him, desperate for every inch.

Then a sudden jolt as he smacked one of my pale white cheeks, which quickly turned red. My fingers dug deeper into the pillow, relishing in pleasurable pain until my cheeks were burning hot. He was rougher than he usually was, skipping over the gentle words and lingering kisses, letting something raw and hungry take over. I felt him swell inside me, the telltale sign that he was close, and I braced myself for that familiar warmth, not caring about what might come after—maybe even hoping for it. But instead, the heat spilled out across my lower back and hips in quick, shuddering bursts, leaving me breathless and aching for the seed he had denied.
