Chapter 34 - CHAPTER 34 : THE EXECUTION OF LIGHT

The death of Jiro was not a silent conclusion. It was the violent ignition of a cosmic catastrophe. As the last spark of his treacherous life flickered out, the Leviathan looming above the city did not merely crash. It underwent a divine implosion. The ship’s core, a desecrated fusion of stolen rifts and forbidden chemical horrors, turned itself inside out. The iron hull of the fortress began to groan, a sound like ten thousand dying violins shrieking in unison, as matter itself was unmade.

A colossal Purple Vacuum tore open in the heavens of Oakhaven. It was a gaping wound in the texture of reality, an inky abyss rimmed with pulsating, radioactive violet light. This was no natural phenomenon. It was a sentient hunger. Gravity became a predatory entity. Everything not anchored to the very soul of the earth, shattered masonry, abandoned Federation tanks, even the final golden light particles of Miki’s Solaris Lion, was pulled like helpless dust into the maw of the void.

In a fraction of a heartbeat, the day was executed. The sky inverted into an unnatural, suffocating darkness so heavy that the lungs of the survivors threatened to collapse under the atmospheric weight. The horizon vanished. The world was reduced to a tableau of ash and violet shadows. It became instant night, a night where the stars had been rattled out of existence by a vengeful god, and only the sinister glow of the apocalypse remained to illuminate the haggard faces of the Outcasts.

In the epicenter of this trembling emptiness floated a figure of pure, rotting arrogance, Fallen Pope Bernard. His once immaculate white robes were stained with the oil like, liquid shadows of his own Vacuum Anting. His eyes were hollow sockets of purple fire, and as he hovered there, he seemed to conduct the vortex like a possessed maestro of the end times.

"NO ONE LEAVES OAKHAVEN ALIVE!" Bernard roared, his voice no longer a human sound, but a distorted echo that cut through bone and marrow, carried by the vibrations of the void. "Look upon this beautiful desolation! I have rewritten the heavens! Your light, your precious hope, it all belongs to the vacuum now! You are nothing but dust waiting to be swept away!"

What Bernard, in his insane lust for power, had forgotten was a fundamental law of the cosmos. By executing the sunlight, he had awakened the only power that breathes in absolute, total darkness.

Below on the scorched earth, amidst the cinders of a city, the Goated Outcasts stood side by side. It was an image of pure Dark Fantasy, Silarias, his sun aura dimmed to a faint, flickering ember, Aurelius, whose golden light pulsed weakly against the purple pressure, and little Ren, standing like a statue of death in the wind. But Nyx was in a state of visceral, raw panic. Her silver aura flashed violently, her shadows lashing out around her like wounded, obsidian serpents.

"Where is Luna?!" Nyx screamed, her voice cracking as she sprinted over molten glass and the debris of war. "WHERE IS SHE?! Someone answer me! If that vortex takes her, I will tear this world apart! Luna!"

The fear for her sister made her moon magic boil like liquid mercury.

At that exact moment, as the Pope hurled his ultimate destruction toward the earth, the massive oak doors of the Outcast Headquarters were completely obliterated. The sheer shockwave pulverized the reinforced wood and stone into a fine, billowing dust cloud that expanded rapidly across the courtyard. Out of the rising debris and the dense, silver mist stepped something entirely unexpected. The young girl who spent her days in deep slumber was gone.

There stood an eighteen year old goddess of war. Her hair was a cascading waterfall of pure silver with a deep, dark purple gradient, billowing in an invisible, Souls like wind that seemed to blow only for her. Her skin was as pale as moonlight on snow, but her eyes burned with an ancient, predatory hunger. No one knew that Nyx had been secretly taking Luna to the Realm of the Moon Goddess, a hidden dimension where time was merely a suggestion. There, the little sleeper had undergone years of martial and spiritual training, fed by the raw energy of the moon’s dark side. The dreamer was now Lunaira, Sister of the Queen, a princess whose true form only awakens when the last ray of hope is snuffed out.

"HA HA HA!" Her laughter rang out like the sound of shattering crystal in an ice storm, echoing through the suffocating darkness. "The sky is finally dark enough. The false suns have fallen, and the true night has arrived. THE MOON… IT IS TIME!"

Bernard screamed from his purple void, his face contorted into a mask of desecrated rage. "WHO ARE YOU?! WHO DARES DEFY MY VACUUM?! I AM THE VOICE OF THE FEDERATION! I AM THE GOD OF THIS NEW SKY! AN INSOLENT CHILD CANNOT STOP THE INFALLIBLE POPE!"

Nyx and Lunaira looked up simultaneously. It was a moment of pure, synchronous divinity. Their eyes lit up with a silver intensity that didn’t just surpass the Pope’s purple glow, it erased it. The air around them crackled with pure, dark moon energy, a power older than the Federation, older than the rifts themselves. The Pope’s gravity lost its grip on them. They were now the anchors of reality.

"Death?" they spoke in unison, their voices merging into a single, haunting harmony that sounded like a choir from a lost cathedral. "Who says so?"

"You speak of absolute power, old man," Nyx muttered, her voice dripping with lethal calm as she raised her hand. "But you are playing with shadows you cannot possibly comprehend."

Lunaira smiled, her silver hair shimmering. "You wanted a night without stars, Pastor. We are the nightmares that fill the empty space."

The two sisters locked eyes with the Pope. Bernard felt, for the first time in his existence, a fear that froze his very soul. They snapped their fingers in perfect unison.

"Think about it for a second," Lunaira whispered coldly.

A surge of bright, nearly blinding moonlight exploded from their bodies, cutting through the purple haze like a silver blade. A deafening crack followed as their combined power began to punch black holes into the Pope’s own void. They played with space time as if it were a piece of fine silk.

With another sharp motion of their fingers, a second rift tore open. Directly behind the Pope, a black hole opened that seemed to tear the sky itself. It was larger, deeper, and hungrier than anything the Federation had ever engineered.

"Here," Nyx said icily. "Your new church awaits."

The look on Bernard’s face was one of pure, raw mortal terror as he was irrevocably sucked backward. "NO! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE! MY VACUUM! MY KINGDOM! YOU CANNOT DO THI—" His scream was swallowed by gravity before the sound could even leave his throat.

Galahad, watching from the sidelines, thrust his sword deep into the ground to avoid being dragged into the abyss. His face was a mask of horror and awe as tears were pressed from his eyes by the sheer atmospheric pressure. "WHO… who are these people?!" he muttered to himself, shaking violently. "This isn't human magic. This is the wrath of the cosmos itself. We were fighting gods this whole time."

As soon as the Pope was teleported to his personal hell, the unnatural night dissolved. The purple vortex shrank into a tiny point and vanished completely. With the departure of the night, Lunaira’s form began to waver. Her long silver hair shortened, her adult body shrank back into that of a child. The thirteen year leap was over.

She stumbled forward, her energy completely drained by the massive surge of moon magic. Nyx reacted faster than light, catching the little girl mid air.

"Yessss, I’ve got you," Nyx whispered softly against the sleepy Luna, cradling her close. "You did perfectly, little sister. Sleep now."

The child was back in dreamland before her head even touched Nyx’s shoulder, completely oblivious to the destruction around her.

Oakhaven was a scar on the face of the world. Olfero still lay knocked out on the ground, his aura shattered by Nyx. Ifnera held Miki tight, their faces blackened by soot but illuminated by a hard won peace. In the distance, Juro sat on his knees amidst the ashes of his brother, a man who had claimed his revenge but had yet to find his soul. The city was breathing again, even if it was a rattling, labored breath.

On the other side of the rifts, in the dark dimension of the God Race, Pope Bernard woke up with a brutal thud. He lay on a floor of black obsidian that felt ice cold against his skin. He scrambled to his feet, his robes shredded, his crown lost.

"WHO DARES?!" Bernard bellows into the darkness, his voice trembling with a mixture of rage and terror. "I AM A PASTOR! I AM ROYALTY OF THE FEDERATION! YOU CANNOT KEEP ME HERE! SHOW YOURSELVES!"

He tried to summon a black hole to tear this space apart, screaming, "Taste my void once more!" But at the first spark, a heavy, authoritative bark echoed through the darkness. His black hole shattered into a thousand shards before it could even form. The Pope’s power was worth nothing here.

Bernard looked up, and his heart nearly stopped. Before him sat Colossal Toji, a monstrous, three headed apparition that towered over him like a mountain of muscle and shadow. Bernard tried to run, to force a portal, whimpering, "No, stay back! Get away from me!"

A piercing hiss sounded behind him. A gigantic black claw, larger than a house, grabbed him by the back and dragged him roughly across the floor.

"I am a PASTOR!" he screamed again, kicking his legs helplessly. "You are just beasts! Let me go!"

Before he could finish his sentence, the tail of Nyx’s cat, which had grown to titanic proportions here, wrapped around his waist. It shook him back and forth like a worthless chew toy and then tossed him directly at the feet of Toji’s three heads.

Colossal Toji lowered its heads, each carrying its own elemental fury. The first head spat a column of white hot Fire. The second head unleashed a shockwave of Electricity. The third head fired a beam of absolute Ice that froze the blood in his veins. Bernard lay there quivering, charred, suffering from frostbite, and with skin boiling from the current.

With one disinterested paw swipe, the dog slammed him straight through a massive wall, thirty meters deep into the bedrock.

The giant cat laughed, her eyes slits of pure, sadistic pleasure as she purred loudly through the cavernous space. "Cry all you want, little pastor. Your titles mean less than nothing in this realm. Once She gets here, the real training begins. We have an eternity to break you."

With a simple flick of her paw, a green, healing energy washed over Bernard. His shattered bones clicked back into place, a cruel mercy. He groaned in agony as his senses returned, realizing the healing was not to save him, but to ensure he would be fully conscious for the next round of torture.

The smoke that once suffocated the heavens had vanished, replaced by a deep cerulean dome where the sun reigned undisturbed once more. Oakhaven was no longer a scar of war, but a living sanctuary of hope. Everywhere you looked, collaboration was the heartbeat of the city. Federation knights worked shoulder to shoulder with the Outcasts to restore the ancient walls. The rhythmic song of saws, hammers, and genuine laughter formed a symphony of reconstruction.

In the center of the city, a massive village festival was in full swing. Long wooden tables groaned under the weight of freshly baked bread and roasted meats. Children chased each other through the cobbled streets, and Luna, back to her familiar eight year old self, sat peacefully napping on a bale of hay, while Nyx’s shadow watched over her with sisterly devotion.

Amidst the celebration, a man in a sharp but dusty suit approached the gathering heroes. It was the Desk Man from the Adventurer’s Guild, the man who had always looked down upon them from behind his counter with cold disdain.

"I… I didn’t know where to start," the Desk Man began, his voice trembling with uncharacteristic humility as he wrung his hands. He looked up at Silarias, Juro, and the rest, unable to meet their eyes fully. "I treated you all wrongly. I mistook you for outcasts, for a problem to be solved. That S tier mission I sent you on… it was meant to eliminate you. I see that now. I am deeply, deeply sorry."

He was abruptly cut off. Jane and Nyx stepped forward. They radiated an arrogance that was no longer an insult, but a statement of fact.

"That S tier mission?" Jane sneered with a daring smirk, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "That’s been finished for ages, honey. In fact, that mission was just the appetizer for the chaos we just cleaned up. You really thought a little numbers game could stop us?"

Nyx nodded slowly, her silver eyes glinting in the sunlight. "It started this whole chain reaction, yes. But we've put everything back in order. Just as we always do. Your little guild guidelines don't apply to people who rewrite the sky."

The Desk Man stared at them, mouth agape, speechless at the raw power and self assurance radiating from the group. He stammered, "I... I will make sure your records reflect... I will give you anything—"

Silarias placed a firm hand on the guild manager’s shoulder, cutting off his panicked offering. "Don’t worry about the paperwork or the apologies," Silarias said calmly, a steady smile on his face. "The city is standing. That is payment enough."

The rest of the group stepped in, flanking their leader. Juro, Ren, Miki, and the recovered Olfero formed an unbreakable wall of legendary figures. In unison, with a laugh that echoed across the entire valley, they shouted:

"THAT’S NOBODIES WAY!"

The city erupted in cheers at their words. The music swelled, a joyful melody of fiddles and flutes. The celebration was not just for the victory over the Pope or Jiro. It was for the birth of a new family.

As the sun slowly dipped behind the mountains, coloring the world in shades of gold and amber, there was a profound sense of closure. There were no purple vacuums, no threats lurking in the shadows. The Outcasts sat together at the head table, savoring the peace they had forged with their own hands. Miki fed scraps of meat to her little fire cub, and Nyx raised a glass to the horizon.

No cliffhangers. No secret enemies watching from the bushes. Only the pure, unadulterated harmony of a people who had mastered their own fate. Oakhaven was safe, the Goated Outcasts were home, and for the first time in an eternity, the night was simply a time to dream.
