Chapter 58 - CHAPTER 58 : MOON MADE

The atmosphere on the plateau shifted with an audible, heavy metallic click that echoed across the valley.

The lifeless basalt skin of the Menehurions did not just crumble; it shattered. Massive shards of petrified stone blasted outward, raining down onto the plateau like a hail of shrapnel. Underneath, their true forms stood revealed: towering monoliths of pure, glistening energy and braided muscle that pulsed with a bioluminescent glow. Their eyes, once dull and calcified, ignited with a razor sharp, ancient intelligence.

As one collective entity, the leaders of both the male and female Titans stepped forward. Every massive stride sent a seismic shockwave through the rock, forcing loose gravel to dance across the ground. They bowed their heads. This was no longer a gesture of fear or beaten submission; it was a deep, everlasting gratitude that made the very air vibrate like a massive brass bell struck in an empty cathedral.

The Clan Elder stepped forward. Her blind eyes fixed flawlessly on the exact spot where the warmth of the group gathered. She raised her chin, her voice cutting through the valley like a honed blade, completely stripped of her previous tremor.

“For centuries, we have carried what was never ours to bear!” her voice boomed, bouncing off the sheer rock faces. Behind her, hundreds of giant Titans bowed in perfect synchronization, their glowing muscles buzzing with a low, pent up hum of freedom. “Because the Moon Goddess was framed in the old world, we, her direct bloodline, were cursed to rot. We became the pariahs of the Ward! Caged in basalt, bound in copper, spinning fairy tales of freedom we never truly believed would come!”

Nyx and Silarias stood shoulder to shoulder, their fingers tightly intertwined. Silarias looked up at the towering giants, his chest expanding as he took a deep, rattling breath. His eyes flared with gold. He was ready to unleash a thundering, earsplitting lion cry across the plain to celebrate the breaking of their chains.

But his lungs never got the chance.

“Those times are over!”

Nyx’s voice sliced through the valley, louder, sharper, and more devastating than the strike of a master smith’s hammer. The sheer weight of her royal authority hit the plateau like a physical wave. She stepped forward, her boots clicking sharply against the stone, her gaze flaming with absolute, unyielding regal determination.

“My mother greets you from the mists of the past!” Nyx called out, her voice resonating with a brilliant, silvery echo that seemed to amplify itself against the clouds. “She thanks you for your unconditional loyalty! She thanks you for bearing a burden that should have belonged to the executioners, not the innocent!”

With a swift, dominant motion, Nyx raised her hand toward the sky. A fierce, blinding stream of silver data erupted from her Ether connection, hissing like wild electricity. The data stream did not just flow; it fractured into hundreds of sparkling, razor sharp threads that shot across the plateau like shooting stars, embedding themselves directly into the foreheads of the Titans. The burning silver sigils branded the exact coordinates of their sanctuary straight into their consciousness.

“I am burning the coordinates of our base directly into your minds!” she commanded, her tone leaving zero room for question or doubt. “There is space there! There is safety! And there is a place where your strength will be honored! We are not building a new kingdom from a golden throne down to the dirt; we are forging an equal world where no one will ever have to flee from a lie again!”

Silarias, who had been watching Nyx’s fiery fervor with wide eyes and raised eyebrows, quickly caught himself. A broad, fiercely proud grin broke across his face. He slammed a heavy, reassuring hand onto her shoulder and locked eyes with the Clan Elder.

“What she said!” Silarias added, dropping his voice into a low register that carried the crushing weight of a rolling avalanche. “Let your steps be the first ones to mark the path! The Ward is no longer your cage; it is your launching pad! Move!”

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the plateau, charged with a vibrating curiosity. The Titan leaders stared down at the duo. They recognized the pure essence of the moon humming within Nyx, but the power she had just unleashed was vast, complex, and woven with something completely foreign to their ancient instincts.

“Who… who are you truly?” the Clan Elder breathed, her voice thick with absolute awe as she stretched her massive, glowing hands toward the heavens. “We knew the silver light of the moon, but this combination… this authority… our people have not felt a presence like this in generations.”

Nyx and Silarias exchanged a swift glance, a whole conversation passing between them in a split second. Nyx took another step toward the edge of the overlook, her chin high, embodying the pure pride of a rightful heir. The blue crest on her forehead flashed with a blinding brilliance, completely banishing the shadows from the plateau.

“The time for hiding in the dark is over,” Nyx declared, her voice echoing into the far reaches of the valley. “My mother is the Moon Goddess. My father is the King of the Time Keepers.”

She placed her hand flat against Silarias’s dense, muscular arm with a deliberate, possessive gesture, a rare, triumphant smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “And my handsome little Lion here… he stems directly from the bloodline of the Bansaday.”

The moment those names left her lips, something happened that the crew had never seen before. Silarias, the fearless warrior who would charge down a battalion without a second thought, turned violently red in an instant. The flush shot from his collar up to the tips of his ears, his cheeks glowing brighter than his own internal fire magic.

He abruptly dropped his gaze, nervously kicking a loose boulder across the cliffside, desperately trying to salvage his tough guy persona by locking his arms tightly over his chest.

“Ah, come on, Nyx… not with everyone standing right here,” he muttered, his voice cracking slightly as he tried to shield his blazing face from view. “Not in public, man. Keep it cool.”

The Titans held their breath as one massive body. Hearing those two names, the Moon Goddess and the Bansaday, the two foundational pillars of their ancient world, hit them like a physical shockwave.

As if pulled by a single string, the entire colony threw themselves flat against the earth. The plateau groaned and shuddered on its foundations as hundreds of massive knees struck the stone. A deep, resonant, harmonious chant rose from their chests, vibrating the very air until the clouds above began to scatter.

“The royal bloodlines have returned!” they roared in unison, a sound that shook the dust from the mountain peaks. “The protectors are standing before us!”

The leader of the female Titans raised her massive, glowing head toward the couple. “We are bound to you by an eternal blood debt. When you call upon us, remember where our strength lies: our hands are made for the care of livestock, and our spirits are bound to the ancient rituals. We forge the remedies that heal the broken, and the offensive reinforcements that shatter the enemy. We are the guardians of the balance.”

Silarias, finally bringing the burning redness on his face under control, nodded solemnly and smashed his fist against his chest. “We won’t forget. Take your time to pack up and move. No rush.”

But the Titans had no intention of lingering.

The air was suddenly ripped apart by the terrifying, deafening sound of thundering hooves. With an explosion of pure, raw kinetic energy and a wild, defiant laugh that shook the valley, the giant creatures launched themselves forward all at once.

They dissolved into streaks of blinding, pure white light, tearing through the ravines with a succession of violent sonic booms. The trail of displaced air and lingering energy vibrated violently against the canyon walls, while the rolling thunder of their departure slowly faded into the distant corners of the Ward.

Silarias stood frozen, his arm still half raised in a farewell gesture, his mouth hanging wide open in sheer disbelief. He stared blankly at the empty, sparkling trail left in the dirt, then burst into a booming laugh, throwing a massive arm around Nyx’s shoulder.

“Well… damn, that works too!” he shouted over the wind. “The Ward is finally waking up!”

The silence that settled over the plateau was shattered before it could even begin. The peace was violently torn to shreds by Lyn.

She stood at the center of the clearing, her massive forge hammer gripped so tightly her knuckles were white, her eyes wildly scanning the terrain like a predator. The purple twilight around them was suddenly illuminated by gigantic, luminous tree vines that began to crawl over the bare rocks like a pulsating, glowing nervous system. They contracted and expanded violently, beating to the exact rhythm of the deep, heavy heartbeat of the Ward itself.

“Grab the gear and start tearing those resources out of the dirt!” she screamed, her voice cracking with a pure, unadulterated creative madness.

Apollo caught the spark instantly. His golden aura flashed to life, perfectly synchronous with the flaming manes of his horses as they stamped their hooves, throwing sparks into the dark. “No time to waste! The horizon waits for no man!”

Lyn was already pacing, screaming orders and swinging her hammer toward the glowing veins of the plateau that the Titans had just left unguarded.

“Listen to me, you slackers!” she yelled, gesturing wildly through the air as if drafting an invisible blueprint right in front of them. “Those guardians are gone, which means this living vein of the Ward belongs to us now! Do not hesitate! Nicola! Get over there! Right at that central junction where the vines are glowing the brightest!”

Nicola looked up, his expression hardening as he gave a sharp, decisive nod.

“Those Luminous Tree Vines aren't for decoration!” Lyn shrieked against the rising hum of the pulsating energy. “They conduct Ether better than any refined metal on the market! I need kilometers of it! Rip it out! That is going to be the wiring for our fortress's nervous system!”

She whipped around on her heel, facing Silarias, who was already bouncing on his toes, white hot sparks leaping from his fingertips.

“Sil! You see those black rock walls over there? The ones cutting into the ridge?”

Silarias squinted at the jet black, visibly vibrating stone faces. “Yeah, I see 'em!”

“That is no ordinary stone!” Lyn went completely wild, her eyes wide with total hype. “Those are Resonating Basalt Blocks! They are vibrating to the literal heartbeat of this world! If you blast them out of the cliffside with your maximum heat and forge them into plates, the Titan gets armor that literally strikes back at every impact! That is going to be the indestructible skin of our monster!”

Without waiting for him to move, her gaze snapped to the glistening crystal structures nestled deep between the massive, winding roots of the ancient trees.

“Jane! Aurelius! Get between those roots, right now! You’re looking for the Crystallized Seed Hearts! Those are the high capacity batteries storing the raw light energy of the vines! Extract them gently, if I see a single scratch on them, I’ll use your heads for scrap metal! And Apollo, get your horses harnessed and ready to haul the heavy loads! We harvest these light sources before the dawn kills the glow!”

The crew exploded into a frenzy of motion, like a match dropped into a barrel of gunpowder. What two chapters ago was just a rough sketch traced in the sand was now translating into brutal, grueling physical labor amidst singing rocks and bleeding trees.

“This isn't going to be some pathetic refugee wagon!” Lyn roared, swinging her hammer with terrifying force into a resonating rock wall.

The heavy iron head connected with a deafening, metallic crash that sent a shockwave through the ground. The impact released a sharp, ringing vibration that resonated deep inside the stone, fracturing the surface as a powerful, musical tone echoed through the valley.

“This will be a Titan! A rolling bastion of living basalt and ethereal veins that will not follow the laws of the Ward, but dictate them to anyone who stands in our way!”

The hype was thick enough to choke on. The sound of fracturing, singing stone blended with the first heavy, rhythmic strikes of Silarias’s fiery forge work. White and gold sparks flew meters into the air, illuminating their sweating, determined faces against the blue glow of the Ward. The birth of their rolling fortress had officially begun.

While the Titan was being forged in a storm of fire and singing metal on the high plateau, the perspective sheared away, cutting deep into the jet black shadow side of the Ward.

Miles away, in suffocating isolation, a completely different reality was unfolding.

Vulkan and his inner circle, Valeria, Snicky, Bonk, Nyco, and Zax, stood frozen. Their backs were pressed flat against the ice cold, jagged walls of a narrow basalt fissure. The passageway was so tight that their rapid, shallow breathing hissed loudly against the stone. The tough bravado and arrogant grins of their earlier farewell had completely vanished. Here, in the belly of the mountain, nothing remained but raw, primal survival instinct.

They were running from a horror that guarded the deepest, most forgotten depths of the Ward.

Behind them, echoing from the absolute blackness of the twisting tunnels, came a sound that scraped directly against their nerves. It was a low, sickening hiss followed by a heavy, rhythmic scraping, the unmistakable sound of dense scales dragging over rough, unyielding rock as a massive weight slid through the dark.

A monumental serpent, a blind monstrosity of impossible proportions, was tracking them. The beast had no eyes within the smooth, pale, fleshy sockets of its armored skull. It didn't need them. It was a master of the dark hunt. Its jet black, split tongue flicked out rhythmically from its jaws, tasting the air, measuring the slightest shifts in temperature, catching the faint, unmistakable molecules of fear sweat.

Bonk held his breath until his veins throbbed against his temples, trying to force his massive, broad frame to melt into the stone wall. He shifted his weight by a millimeter.

Tick.

A tiny pebble detached from the wall and hit the floor.

The heavy scraping in the dark stopped instantly.

Snicky and Nyco looked around wildly, their pupils fully dilated in the pitch black, frantically clawing at the air for an exit that didn't exist. Valeria gripped her weapon with trembling hands, her knuckles white, but the massive vibrations shaking the floor from the monster’s mere breathing made her courage completely evaporate.

Every single heartbeat of Vulkan’s group was a flare in the night for the blind nightmare. They were trapped like rats in a collapsing hole, hunted by a creature that could see their fear perfectly in the dark.
