Description
Some sage once observed that the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled off, was convincing everyone that he didn't even exist. Of course its also been said, that if there wasn't a Devil? We would promptly have to invent one.
Everyone knows that something is going on. They just can't decide what that something is. For a long time, a very specific type of victim has been turning up dead. Its uncanny. First noticed by insurance statisticians, young men in college with every advantage in life… started turning up floating dead in elevated numbers. Double, triple, and more. And absolutely nothing explains this phenomenon.
The cases are all disturbingly similar, and the exact same thing just keeps on happening. In cold weather, young men simply vanish… until they're found floating in cold water. No violence, nothing stolen. No motive, witness or explanation. It only happens in cold weather, always just before a storm. Law enforcement has been puzzled by this for years.
It only happens on the east coast, above the Mason Dixon line and below the great lakes region. The victims all fit a very specific profile, and it, whatever it is… keeps happening in the same places, over and over, year after year.
The case is long standing and infamous. "He", is known as the "Smiley Face Killer". To study it professionally or privately, is to scratch your head… and feel a cold chill creep up your spine.
Smiley face graffiti is always discovered somewhere nearby. One of the earliest "victims", had a strange note placed on the gravestone…
"You can't find what you aren't looking for."
Much like the case itself, some people think its just a sick joke or prank. Others, find it just one more strange thing to add to the already bizarre case.
One man thinks he has an idea, and enlists the help of a soon to be retired state police investigator. They team up to try to determine, once and for all…
…if the Devil even exists.
Torn from the true real life pages of one of the biggest mysteries in law enforcement and the internet itself.
There's a time to remain calm. There's a time to be concerned. But now? Its time for Panic.
